Game forum, ask there.

But to be honest I assume that game is a fighter? Getting destroyed by players who are much better than you when you start off playing a fighter is pretty much par for the course. You just need to get better at the game, play offline until you hone your skills.

But I have never played the game, people who have can be found here:

Three years late to the party you have to expect that the only remaining players are the pros. You'll find the same in almost any game unless it is still popular enough to match you with other new players.

Same in Quake Live. It's not like there's no players left, it's just that who's left, will smear you all over the walls moments before you get any chance to even grasp you're in the fight.
Quake Champtions on the other hand, you can have some non-hardcore fun there.

Because the matchmaking is not just trash, it's worse than trash.

First off, as soon as a premade enters the game, you can forget about matchmaking at all. It cannot cope with premades, even a two man premade is too much for it to handle. If a platinum 4-man premade waits for more than a minute or two in the queue, the game stone cold matches them against level 2 noobs fresh out of the tutorial and says:"Good luck :) "

Second, even without premades, it's less than stellar. It works based on levels and tries to even out total team levels. So as high prestige, you constantly get into matches where you get newbies in your team to compensate for your high level while the enemy is a bunch of mid prestiges that wipe the floor with your teammates because they're hopelessly outmatched and you can't possibly carry a full team of deadweights. It's systemic abuse of newcomers.

And that's assuming it works at all. If the matchmaker fills a room one by one instead of all at once, it has a spasm and just makes a random match. It's rare, but in such cases, you can also get full silver teams against newbies.

Now, remember the second point? High levels get sick as heck of that. As a result, a lot of people resort to smurfing. Which means newbies get to enjoy bad matches even if a miracle happens and the matchmaker manages to make a game among ostensible newbies.

All of this is entirely due to the devs pathological fear of letting people wait in a queue.

The game is teeming with newcomers with every sale, the lobbies filled to the brim with prestige 1-2 players. The issue is not a lack of newcomers. The issue is simply terrible matchmaking. And because of that, the game keeps bleeding players left, right, front and center. The playerbase constantly doubles or even triples during sales and then gets systematically decimated within a week tops.

I understand your frustration as a new player myself in this game. I only have 15 hours in the game myself. I know though that I may be the exception here, but I don't personally mind going against all the top tier teams because they help me learn new things. Whenever I am in a match and see that I am against a team much better than me instead of trying to win I instead spend most of the match watching my opponents. I have found it way more helpful to learn the game by getting crushed and seeing someone use good builds against me and how to effectively use them. Do I die a ton sure, but oh well honestly I am learning still that happens. The other big tip that really helped me a lot is learning how to effectively use each class.; Rangers are long range glass cannons, healers are more support styled but have some crazy strong ninjustu too, Defender is tanky support class for me personally, and attack is speed demon killer they have so much movement to get around everywhere and hit everything. I as a new player actually like defender a lot because they hit hard still and are hard to kill with so much hp as well as bringing in some nice supporting moves and defensive move sets. Honestly though play the way you like and roll with the deaths. Personally I feel like the game gets a little easier every day, but I will probably always be a bad casual lol.

As a new player too, I noticed there are 2 modes where you can practice without having to deal too much with those people :
- VR missions, obviously. It's against the cpu but it's a good way to get used to what you're doing at least, and it gives a fair amount of rewards at the beginning. But don't level too much in there, when you think you have a basic understanding of how it plays :
- Beginner matches, until level 30. Since you will go against players that time you will get used to see how what you've been doing in missions work or not against real players. Again, gives a fair amount of rewards.

Then, once you're 30 you can either :
- Keep on completing VR Missions. When you're reaching C-B rank the enemies have a few (un)fair advantages against you so it teaches you how to dodge more and know where to attack, particularly on bosses.
- Survival Exercise (PvP). It's a free for all, so unlike quick matches or league you will have more chances to try 1v1 so it's easier to observe the quirck of each classes. Sure sometimes you might meet a few hackers or a few lvXX that have nothing better to do with their lives than teabag newbies but you don't meet them that much. In team matches you'd mostly get stunlock by the same people so you wouldn't be able to do anything at all.

It's problematic also for veterans. I get very often teams of newbies and very rarly a vet team vs vet team
