There are different ways to play each class, and different moves are better in different situations.

From what I've seen of the game, Sand Shield and Planetary Devastation stand out as obvious advantages which many players either consider broken OP or "must-have" inclusions on their build. I don't personally know how much counterplay exists for either, but Sand Shield is somewhat situational in its "OP-ness" being mostly a way to get a crazy advantage on point capture - and even then it's limited to being an advantage against random players more than a proper team. Planetary Devastation might have a bunch of counters I just don't know about. Or it might legit be due a nerf.

Assuming there are situations where there's a particular "this mentor is the best because of X jutsu", I hope the devs improve game balance so that becomes less of a factor as time goes on. I've easily watched more than 30 hours of gameplay in the past few days, and have seen really good plays using a pretty wide variety of moves. I don't know enough about the game to judge any particular stand out moves as being "OP" or "useless" but I expect there's probably a few tweaks needing to be made, and I'm hopeful the devs will make the right changes to improve things.

It's an attack class technique. Attack being the melee class. So yes.

It makes me wonder why some people care more about meta than making their own unique personal ninja which is the point of this game.

It makes me wonder why some people care more about meta than making their own unique personal ninja which is the point of this game.

The problem is there's some things that are just objectively better than everything else, which makes the use of those jutsu/skills a liability for yourself and your team. I typically don't go for meta junk in any PVP-oriented, multiplayer game; I want to build my own character with my own stuff. But many games have at least some measure of balance to them, albeit skewed one way or the other, so playing this way isn't THAT bad.

The problem we're seeing, even early into the game's lifespan, is the meta dominating so hard that for casual/intermediate players, it's kind of daunting/frustrating. I've mentioned it before; I'm not for kneejerk patches or band-aid fixes to problems that may initially be seen as OP. It could be that later this week, people find some other skills or gameplay mechanic-usage that lessens or outright nullifies the impact of, say, Planetary Devastation.

But honestly, the game is such a niche title that's seemingly half-finished that relying on the community to solve the game's balancing issues might be asking for too much

You definitely make a good point. If something is that unbalanced we should know about it. Hopefully they listen when we tell them what is way too strong. Ive only heard of one skill that is that op.

I don't personally know how much counterplay exists for either.

As a Ranged player, I carry Amaterasu specifically to counter Sand Shield. It literally insta-pops it, since Ama isn't blocked by Sand Shield (lol.) It spawns right on top of your target instead.

PD is just... a lucky guess. You can't even Kawarimi that ♥♥♥♥, which makes no sense from a game perspective. It's insane how good it is.

The thing is that all of the classes masters can give you something useful for some situation. It's building your four kits in a smart way so that you can counter your enemies possible tactics.

In this game, it pays to play more like a Shikamaru than it does to play like a Naruto.

Planning and finesse will ALWAYS trump just "Diving in with a strong skill" because you can't just believe your way forward like they do in the anime. To be honest, if you'd ask me, Shiakmaru was the realest "ninja" in this series. He plays things smartly and focuses on counterplay to the enemies strength rather than just screaming loudly and then just running at the enemies rashly. It shows a cool head and let him beat enemies that could physically overpower him (Hidan for example.).

Keep that thought process in mind when picking your moves and your winrate will skyrocket. <3

I tell that to all the teams and players I mentor and I PROMISE you it will pay off in spades. Moves like Leaf flash can seem underpowered or useless compared to a Rasengan sometimes, but it's also a masterful move that requires skill to make work for you. It's not a beginners tool. Instead it plays on the idea that less is more and because of it's ability to reset combos, you can make enemies pay in more blood for their mistakes rather than just eating a single rasengan and then teleporting away while you're left there still "pushing" the skill at a C4 clone.

Your substitution jutsu choice is HUGE as well. C4 clones and Ink clones are underused and it baffles me. It's such a hinderance to enemies, ESPECIALLY ranged and healer types and I'm surprised I don't see it more often.

if you have fun not playing the meta don’t but a lot of people like me do honestly I respect the people who don’t follow the meta and sometimes I don’t but at the start of the game I like to
