I assume you haven't seen tanking in other games. Never seen a tank cover up a whole node and others not being able to penetrate their shields.
Only class that might have problems doing it fast enough to prevent a capture is healer...
Play smart and pick to counter the enemy team comp. You can switch loadouts for a reason and too many people refuse to switch because they think "Maining" a class is important. It's not. It's being able to change between the four that makes a difference.
If you only play healer for example, you're going to have a VERY bad time because there's a lot of times when a healer just isn't required. Taking bases is one of those times where it can be USEFUL but isn't required if your team are kitted out to heal on kill, have jutsu that bolster their own defenses and can heal themselves with things like the Seven Heavenly Breath ultimate. There's a lot of ways to counter one trick-pony enemies, especially sand barrier since it prevents the defense class from doing anything but walking.
That's the thing. Defenders in this game arn't tanks like in MMORPG's or Moba's, and you CAN break their shields.
If -you- have problems doing it, that's on you and you need to learn how in order to not hold the rest of your team back. Just because you have trouble doing it doesn't mean everyone else in the game does. Hell, I can leaf-flash kick a shield to PRETTY heavily damage it and that's not even a really strong move, but it gets me in and lets me finish off the rest with some combo attacks. If their team isn't covering them they are ASKING to get pressured off of the point and are bound to pay with their lives if they don't retreat once said pressure starts pouring in.
