Why is John R Blade white now?

Looking at the screenshots it's obvious that this is a white man's hand:

Now I'm not a purist so if you want to go with fingerless gloves then fine but you do know that John is a black guy with dreadlocks, right?

Edit: Considering that even the old trailer got removed from 3DR's Youtube channel with Nightdive taking over I'd say that this thread is outdated and should no longer receive more replies. Good luck, Nightdive and please don't make Blade's hands white. :)

looks more mixed to me which is fine cuz blade always had a mixed skin tone

If you want that opinion then take it but you know, his hands doesn't even look mixed. My hands are the same color and I'm white as ♥♥♥♥.

Yeah and the sequel will be called SiN: The Whitening. Anyway if I had to guess by the low quality of the texture work on the screenshots it's the result of some very cheap outsourcing but we'll see. Nightdive haven't disappointed me with anything yet (apart from their Blood remaster but hey, nobody's perfect) so at least the new port is something to look forward to. Just let me use the original assets like in the case of Quake.

It's been a while but I think Nightdive confirmed it was a mistake on twitter. (not helping is that I think a few pre-release art DOES show him as white as well as Blade's skin tone actually changing depending on the weapon for his first person hands in the first game, for some reason.)

Agreed, the old games have him with a more olive tone or darker looking depending on the gun you are holding. He at least looks mixed race if not just a light skin black man. Even the cover art for reloaded shows him clearly looking black and yet for some reason every screen shot and teaser trailer has him looking paler than me. You can even see when they do the scan from old to new in one of the shots he goes from a light brown skin tone on his wrist to straight up fingers whiter than mine on the fingerless gloves and I'm very light skinned mixed race hispanic man. Its a weird and frankly stupid change. I have the same complaint n the Phantom Fury trailer when he shows up. This is like making Duke Nukem black its just dumb and only makes sense if Slipgate have some sort of agenda so I hope the skin textures for his model in both games are fixed before either game releases.

Is this game all Slipgate btw? I mean "hey let's make ugly high res textures that don't fit the low polygon count environment" isn't really Nightdive's MO so I can imagine that it's not the right people calling the shots and Nightdive is only doing some engine work. That wouldn't be great though who knows, at this point I think it's safe to assume that this game is cancelled along with Slipgate's Kingpin remaster.

Both Phantom Fury and Tempest Rising seem pretty large projects for only ~80 people so I don't think there's anyone they have left for these remasters.

yeah slipgates making the below average "enhanced" textures and ND is doing what the ♥♥♥♥ ever, i dont understand why this remaster is taking so damn long, why couldnt they just improve the gold version of the game?
