SiN Reloaded

SiN Reloaded

What is the game like?
I've never played any version of this game and the trailer doesn't show actual gameplay. Is this worth playing if you've never played it before? Are there any good comparisons?

Sort of it's own thing, but you could draw comparisons to build engine titles like duke 3D - think of SiN as one of those sorts of games except built within a branch of Quake 2's engine. Cool ass guns, a locational armour and damage system (shoot guys in the legs to avoid damaging their body armour, then take that for yourself), phenomenal soundtrack, choices that affect what happens in levels (taking an alternate route into a level, changing the environment or even opening up secret level paths), and a metric ♥♥♥♥ ton of personality and charm. It's got some low points like in the stealth segments and vehicle controls, thankfully the rough points are far outnumbered by the stuff that's done well - absolutely worth a try if you're into old school FPS.

As long as it doesn’t have the Duke sense of humor, sounds like it could be up my alley, thanks.

(It's pretty well written considering the type of FPS it is. Blade and JC are priceless together)

With most projects, silence isn't always bad. It most often means they're busy in the polish/QA stages which don't have much exciting things to present to us. What is exciting is that it may mean that they are almost done, although sometimes polish can take over half of the overall dev time to get right.

They may also be waiting for times of slow/no news from the relevant parts of the industry to make their news releases more effective. There is also the marketing strategy of drip-feeding, mostly used by lower-budget projects, that keep excitement by a cycle of starvation, then a taste, then more silence and so on until a big silence before launch.

one of the best old skool shooters

Not the best old school fps but okay, sof 1 is better. The game was cool back in the day because you started the game in a chopper with a minigun. The first map in the bank is the best. Then you end up in a forest later on and in an underwater complex. Quake I is still the best old school fps that had polygons then Unreal and all the others. Blade does make macho remarks btw. Plus he is one of the first black characters in fps, he has a nerdy tech giving him mission instructions. You can hack bank accounts in the bank, that was pretty new back in the day of gamespy and mplayer.

I remember playing that demo a bunch of times with the bank level, this game was completely over shadowed by games like half-life at the time I feel like this came out right around the time online multiplayer was becoming more popular. it definitely had some features that half-life didn't have which made it stand out a bit. back in 1998 though I don't think many ppl had decent pcs, my pc at that time was a pentium II 233 mhz, it had 64mb of ram. I think I was lucky and actually had an 8mb gpu, not many ppl did. most of my friends had segas or n64's, ps1's. in that same year you also had trespasser come out, which was a decade ahead of the competition but, because it ran like crap, it failed. you didn't get physics like trespasser until half-life 2.

Its actually worse or at least on par with Duke Nukem's late (post Duke Forever) sense of humor, so i wouldnt say its up your alley.

Ty for the warning, I find it rather cringe.
