my question being: does the save file reset itself everytime?
It was stated before where I asked you about reaching checkpoints. And also many other places including ModDB page comments section and Base Defense Steam Store page.
There was a time before when characters were saved every wave, but players liked to abuse the save system, so we are having now what we have. Yes, it was made for difficulty, to make a save point, but not too often.
I suggest you to look forward for a new release, it will include lower difficulty mode. The bad thing is I’m really low on time right now, so I’m not sure I will be able to make an update soon.
beside that, i see why players could abuse it. I just found it really odd to just lose 10 waves of progress, which is atleast 10-20 minutes of gameplay, which can be considered a lot. Maybe make it 5 waves instead?
Also, while we're at suggestions, the miniboss that comes at wave 10, it's uh, not that well made. It nearly instalocks on you and just kills you. Yes, it doesn't deal a lot of damage, but it's still annoying to fight, especially considering explosives are nearly ineffective and pricy.
The best way to handle the miniboss, is to either make him lock on and shoot a bit later, or make new attacks for it, not just the long-range sniper miniguns.
10 waves are really challenging, so I doubt I’m going to change that. 5 waves can be a nice idea for lower difficulty mode, I will note it.
I suggest you to play the Tomb map, because you can run circles there. It’s the one of the best tactics and the best map (not only because it was made by me, but it was tested with time, it’s the first map ever for Base Defense).
I’m going to make some warnings before the boss wave. It can be really useful to remind player it’s gonna be tough next wave.
I really like the mod and i've dreamed about a HLmod like this for years, but i can't play it in multiplayer and it really sucks starting from 0 after every time i die and the map changes. Also, there is no time to talk with Demon NPC and explore the upgrades tree. How about placing him in a location that monsters can't reach, to let players read all the stuff properly, and take a break if they are suddenly forced to go AFK (urgent bathroom, phone call, door bell, parents/pets reqire attention, etc.) and a respawn system for soloers? (maybe, buying "lives", or earning them every X waves or something?)
Also, the Blaster seems to be ridicuously underpowered. It is useless even on the 1st wave. Why is it even there then? Come on...
Everything is made clever already.
Saves are stored on server, by account. Saves are bound to the map you're playing. Saves are checkpoints every 5/10 waves depending on difficulty you're playing. When you die, just roll to the map you were playing on with poll menu ('P' by default in spectator mode).
Press invisibility key to disappear from battle ('X' by default), wait 5 seconds until you become invisible to monsters and do whatever you want: go to bathroom, learn skills, annoy demon trader or anything you want. Blaster is made to last hit monsters, damage bosses (like Pantagruel which is hit only with electric or explosive damage, he's immune to bullets alright?) and also to prevent situations when players waste their money on useless items and then become useless themselves, because they are unable to purchase any ammo to kill that last flying monster. There were way too much situations like this tbh.
Just take a look at hotkeys definitions in options menu and you'll find pretty much everything you need.
Enjoy mate, thanks for your feedback.
Still, my greatest porblem so far is that all the servers are gone and never show up again since i first played the mod a few days ago.
