Question about the FAQ, and sequel.
Hello,

I was confused by reading the steam page about how the sequel was constructed, I am currently playing through the base game, and I'm around chapter 14, when you're at the summer training camp.
I then proceed to read the FAQ pinned on the forum page, but it didn't quite answer my question, so I am turning to you, hoping you have an answer.

It's a bit different. W Happiness includes the first 13 chapters of the Princess Evangile common route, but is mostly there to refresh your memory.

What does "refresh your memory" mean ? If I'll have to run through the full chapters again after finishing the base game, I should directly get this one and continue from here.

If it really is the full 13 chapters again, is there an option to skip that ? I didn't quite catch what the dev meants by
while the new (or "Another Story")
; is this a whole new setting, or instead of giving me 4 choices, it gives me 8 ?

Thank you for taking the time to clear that up, and I'm looking forward to an answer.

You don't need to read that 13 chapters if you don't want to. They're there to literally refresh your memory if you don't remember what happened and to set things up for the new heroines becaue their arcs start after chapter 13 iirc

Setting is the same and you just choose the route you want to read - either after stories or new heroines.

Thank you very much for the answer, I guess it makes sense.

If you've read the original Princess Evangile, Chapters 1-13 of the common route in W Happiness merely serve to act as a refresher in case you forget what happened. Perhaps it's been a while since you read through it, like the nice 18-month gap if you played both games on release (Dec 2015 to Jul 2017). Maybe you want to re-read it after doing all the main heroines' routes.

If for some reason you decided you were interested in reading WH despite not playing the original PE, the common route is also included so you can fully experience the (new) side girl routes without reading PE. I'm not sure why anybody would want to read WH standalone, as you won't understand the epilogue stories of the original four heroines which is half the point of WH, but hey that's not my prerogative.

As opposed to PE, where the route you enter is based on which girl you pick during choices in the common route, in WH you jump straight into a route from the main menu. The side girl routes pick up following Ch13, the PE heroines' epilogues follow the end of their routes from PE. There are no changes to the common route in WH, and the choices only matter for entering a route in the original PE, so there's no point to rereading it unless you really feel like it.

So - Just to be sure...

If you buy this version, you don't need to buy the older version because that one is included in this version? Or do you have to buy the older version first, and after reading that go to this version?

In other words - Is this simply the older version with extra stuff (Happiness) on top of it?

Reading is fundamental... *ahem*

W Happiness does not include the original four main heroine routes from Princess Evangile. WH only contains the common route so you don't have to own PE to read it, before diving into WH's five side girl routes. This allows you to play WH as a standalone product.

You will need to play the original PE for the four main heroine routes. Their epilogues in WH also won't make any sense without having read their routes in PE, so you're not getting the full WH experience if you play it standalone. That said, I know some people didn't like the original PE due to its heavy plot elements but love WH because it's relatively condensed and drama-free.

Or to explicitly spell it out,

PE contains:
Common route (through Chapter 16)
Four main heroine routes, following Ch16

WH contains:
Common route (through Chapter 13)
Five side heroine routes, following Ch13
Four main heroine epilogues, following the end of their PE routes

The common route is identical in both instances, WH just cuts Chapters 14-16 because the side routes branch off from the common route sooner than the main routes.

This was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much for summarizing this!! :sanobameguru:
