But anyway, the campaign is ~25 hours long. Definetly worth the current price if you like ARPGs. Story is a parody of MMOs with cute girls, pretty light-hearted.
Sorry but it's IMPOSSIBLE to speedrun this game and Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls in such a ridiculous time without cheating or uber hax.
Most speed runs do make use of glitches so.
You can't glitch a quest based game which forces you to to through the ranks.
There's no clipping through walls or activating an event much later in the game through glitches here.
12-14 hours lenght
I mean by Rank 6 which is the 1st ending. I doubt anyone would beat Rank 8 in 7 hours with being Lv. 99 early in the game through online quests or the damage bug.
The time I posted is an overall average time for speedrunning. Someone who fully memorized the maps, quest objectives, story path and high slide/forward step spamming can obviously do it much faster.
But honestly, I really like speed running.
Why? Don't you get bored?
Especially the cutscenes which can't be skipped completely like in Megadimension VII.
Hmm, I don't think I would speed run Neptunia games if I were to begin speed running anything though. Turn based games aren't the best things to speed run tbh. Games like Nier or Souldborne, or others like Hollow Knight are more fun to speedrun IMO.
All I can say is it's a HUGE improvement compared to the rest of the spin-offs and honestly feels like a return to the franchise in a way. I actually completed all of the achievements surprisingly (since I initially doubted it) ever since the Re;births and VII.
I appreciate the completely new environments (no reused assets here finally!) and the fantasy vibe ranging from the music and visuals. It reminds me of the Agarest games that I played heavily back then and with the additional SAO/.hack themes and fun dialogue alongside references (like any past Nep game) was pure fan service. Cyberdimension is literally "playing a game within a game playing another game" and the fact Neptune and co. acknowledges it makes the experience that much funner.
However that's not to say it's all perfect cherry blossoms; the gameplay is basically a simplified version of Unleashed, hardly improved outdated character models, obtaining end game gear is laughably bad (almost requiring you to farm mats online) since the drop rate offline or solo is garbage but leads to another issue: connecting to multiplayer is inexcusably broken with poor netcode, lack of replayability once beaten (no newgame+) and no post-game content besides grinding for gear/leveling to do multiplayer quests (up to level 200 but not necessary at all). The story is extremely predictable for the most part but being light-hearted with borrowed elements from SAO/.hack makes it thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.
I'm just glad I can finally enjoy and appreciate a Nep spin-off besides the main series (Re;birth/VII).
Some improvements over other Nep games in general
* Original music. Thank goodness. The same themes were recycled too much in the past
* New maps (still has the high reuse problem though)
* The story is actually good. I wouldn't say as good as Megadimension VII and the Conquest ending of Rebirth 2, but it's better than the average Nep game
I've been enjoying it, though it might help that I played the Blanc Zombie game recently, and that was a disappointment
