Compile Heart/Idea Factory..a company everyone respects
Ok this may seem odd but i'm going to actually do a bit of serious thought here
it regards Hyperdimension Neptunia games and something to ponder about them

after watching a recent video Via a games journalist talking about Triple A games costing $60 and how they should now cost 0$ it got me thinking
Hyperdimension Neptunia doesn't have any of what makes AAA games..well AAA games

HDN games have no loot boxes no season passes no microtransactions IN GAME i've rarely seen a promotional opportunity ( aka food drinks) that team up with HDN
the only thing HDN does is it has DLC...but its NOT required to play the game its not required for the story and recently it's not added anything major (aka new locations bosses and stories)
its often outfits characters and weapon/ equipment packs

outfits which cost a dollar
weapons packs cost about $5
and characters go for $1-2

and YET look at the fanbase..look how popular this game series has become..you go on Twitch and we have the NepSmug emote...people have HDN names and even when
-the streamer is playing a completely different game you will see people pipe up with Neptune comments and the like...the game series is well known

i cannot recall one time EXCEPT with Devotion Noire where people had honest to god complaints/anger towards a HDN game..and devotion got some stick for the masses of DLC you could buy

yet looking at AAA games they are constantly in the news with shady practices/scummy trickery and lying to the public where it's got to the point where people are lamenting about the game getting a sequel or another in the series

compare that to the HDN universe and we have people eagerly awaiting the new game begging it to be released (on steam) and consider this

every HDN is about 70% the same as the others

the game re-use maps..they re-use (though improve) models, the cutscene models are the same, most of the outfits and weapons are re-used the monsters are GREATLY re-used, icons/markers duplicated around the world and games

AND a hefty chunk of the cutscenes are silent...or rather dont have the VA speaking the lines (at least with the english voice on)

the games SHOULD get a bad press people SHOULD be clamoring for more new content and more creative locations

but guess what...people dont..the games are THAT well loved and respected and have grown so much in people hearts/minds/life that all they want is more Neptunia

considering the game costs..£23 to about $32 they are priced at around HALF what a triple A game costs

HOWEVER...Aside from Action U and maybe Blanc Vs zombies..the games DO give you your money's worth often more

i've always maintained a game should last you around the same hours as it's cost..so far..thats been the case..HDN 1/2/V i have well over 50 hours played..and even blazing through Sega hard girls the main story took me about 30 hours

So when 4GO launches on steam...i will be buying it Day 1 (if i can) and will support it even more by buying the DLC and special content packs

I'm not saying you should do the same..but its something to consider..it's just a way of supporting the game even more

and after how much HDN has changed me and my look on life...it's the least i can do

Sorry to go all serious but really...HDN-Compile Heart-Idea Factory they could teach AAA companies how to create not only a good game..but a RESPECTED game

i'm not saying a Neptunia game is AAA..what i'm saying is AAA games have been getting really bad reps recently...however i cannot think of one instance where someone ACTUALLY hated/ranted/made a video complaining about CH/IF and the HDN games

Well, someone at gamespot dont have the same opinion as you for the very first one on PS3 but we can't trust that one tho

But i agree with you that except Hyperdevotion, i've liked all the other

It feels like an Anime with really good writing at times for me. The interactive media we would get from a rich story AAA title, only laid out like a casual TV series.
Also Hyperdevotion was a fantastic gem of a game. If you enjoyed playing a game like Fire emblem, you'd come to appreciate the story and battles more. It was all out warfare in that game, and filled with references last gen gamers could get.

No ofense, but I hated Hyperdevotion.
Game Noire is a joke personality wise.

Seriously... The story and protagonist were just... awful... Gameplay was ok.
But I CANNOT for the life of me bear Game Noire. Even Ultra Noire has a place on my heart. But Game Noire? HECK NO. Go burn and die you bish

The very first Neptune game on PS3 is really not very good. It has the similar sense of humor, but it's combat system was absolute garbage and made it so I couldn't even bother to get to Lastation. It's why they remade it.

Only thing the original has done better then the remakes was how they handled the main plot of Neptune's memory lost and the ptsd she got after remembering everything it was much more dramatic then the remake where they just threw it out of the water and have nep be like " oh I remember now " and go on like it never happened, as well as how they handled cpus only joining the party.

Original Neptune regain memory plot
Nep regaining her memory was scary, dramatic and you just felt bad for neptune as she left the party and went out on her own to kill herself and Arfoire together while you were left with just IF and Compa having to run after her into the stairs to celestia to fight neptune in an epic boss battle to stop her. It also provided more lore around why arfoire raised the cpus as their mother and how everything happened with neptunes flashbacks. Of course everything went well after Compa and IF beat up nep senses xD

Also the other 3 CPUs were extremely mean towards neptune since they were all rivals trying to kill each other off you had to get their share up and beat all cpus in end game for them to join your party to get ready for the final battle. ( In remake they made the 3 other cpus way more friendly towards neptune and join party instantly as you meet them, instead they replaced the raising share with unlocking Candidates from the 2nd game instead)

Lastly.

Atleast the remake gave more characters to play but the story writing around the dramatic plot the first game had was gone.

So basically other then the main story writing and main plot which the first game did better then Remake. The Dungeons were kinda cool though in first game but very big.

So for everything else the Remake was far superior then anything the first game had.

All-round though Re;birth1 is far better then the first game except for the main plot.

Not only that the character's voices especially in English there was no difference personality wise between the CPU's and their HDD modes especially Black Heart,Green Heart and White Heart while Purple Heart was the only one with a different personality/voice. I'm Glad Rebirth 1 Fixed that.

We've been watching AAA games make an ass of themselves since the PS3.

This isn't news.

Speaking of reuse of assets, I find it a better way to manage budget than adding shady business practices like loot boxes.
However, I woud like sometimes to see grass painted blue instead of green, color swaps are better than a simple copypasta.

Makes you wonder what a AAA HDN game would look like.
