Modding potential?
Greetings, discussion board goers.

From what I've seen around the Internet, Cyberdimension runs on Unreal Engine 4. I'm not sure how well the development team will take it, but I think the game can be modified slightly if the tests made on another UE4 game hold up well with Cyberdimension.

To confirm: Sounds, textures and static meshes can be modified based on the tests from another UE4 game (VR, currently on Steam, being improved into another game).

I'm just sitting here wishing that all the characters had animations during dialogue like all the other games :(

You're not the only one. I also wished that as well. Since we played Rebirth 1-3 and then Megadimension plus the spin offs and also the Originals on PS3 thats alot of Neptunia games so we got used to the animations but now it looks odd after so many games.

I wonder if part of the reason why the Live2D animations aren't in could be because they found it difficult to implement in UE4? I wonder if anyone else has tried such a thing. I mean, I don't know of any visual novels that would choose to use UE4, of all things.

Could be very possible since it's a new engine that they never used before. I think that it is possible that it can be done but it would take time to figure it out and maybe IF didn't have time to figure it out. We could ask them about that if they are willing to give us an answer about it.

Edit: I did a quick google search and there are devs out there making Visual Novels using the Unreal Engine but no animations though.

From a quick search online ("Live2D Unreal Engine 4"), I found a post dating back to March 2015 in which the topic had a developer state that, at the time, Live2D Cubism wasn't supported on Unreal Engine. The last post was on May of 2017 and the developers stated that they were 'currently reevaluating the targets for the Cubism SDK'.

Thanks for the info. That explains the just of why the 2D was lacking animation. Hopefully some time down the road they can get this feature sorted out.

I hope so as well. In the meantime, if all goes well, the modders for Cyberdimension can make some stuff here and there.

So before the game releases in a few days, I feel like this should be asked: What kind of mods, given what we know can be modded and if the .pak can be extracted, would you like to see? Some texture mods 'changing' the armors/bikinis, some sound replacements like changing the sword slashes into boings, etc etc?

I wouldn't mind if some one modded and added the Sword that Nepgear used in the Conquest ending from Mk2/Rebirth 2 as Cyberdimension fantasy looking sword rather than the typical Neptunia beam sword and make it in all forms of the Sword so Vert, Noire and Neptune can use it. Also the changing of the costumes is not a bad idea. Maybe it would be easier for a modder to add the Playstation buttons for those who use a DS3 or DS4 controllers with the game. Maybe hires textures depending on how the game looks on PC.

The Gehaburn, huh? That'd be a big order, but I'm mostly sure that someone would be able to take up that.

As for the controller buttons and the high-res textures, those shouldn't be too difficult. Maybe.

Weapons, especially simple anime style ones aren't too hard.

Someone with minimal 3DS max experience could whip one up, now inserting it into the game, that's what a novice modeler wouldn't know.
