I've seen multiple people mention these are super OP but no one actually mentioned how to start/do them, i found a guide to locations but had already found several on my own, just theres no activation or anything when i get close, how do i do them?

what do you mean? the one you found around the area is the one you need to cleanse for Moiser's quest. if you want to do satanic ritual, you need to craft the altar yourself at your homebase. if you want the permanent stat boost, you gotta join Marty

I havent unlocked a crafting recipe for an altar, does it need a quest completed to unlock or are all of its parts just super rare?

also where is Marty? wiki doesnt have a page on them and im pretty sure i've been just about everywhere in the overworld, even found that weird chicken bones guy in the sewers

The recipe comes whenever a cow head enters your inventory.

MY issue is that I can't control what specifically it dispenses. I need a dead cat for one of the Guzzler quests, and instead, it gave me a rat, a nudity magazine, and a dark beer.
