pick a choice , go with it , try something different next playthrough
you're dying so much because you're not learning from your failures , heck with all the handholding you're barely playing the game
So would you help a pity hobo please?
Tbh i was planning to make a walkthrough for someone like you, but i gave up the idea mid way
This game becomes too easy once you know some aspects of it. You can completely avoid begging and stealing if you want and still can survive throughout the entire season very healthy
- He never experience the life like you that 1000 coin in the first day
- He never have dry & warmth cloth like you (raining day & night start from day-2, I sit infront of the desktop 20 minutes for doing nothing)
- He never get safety as you coz thug always run towards him at main entrance of train station, subway, labor office or even on the street (I know where thug standing & I never get close to them but thug is run towards character in my game)
- He never so lucky to find rare items or craft materials from the red bin, he need to buy from dealer
His experience put me in doubt once, you may have special commend (or hacker) otherwise you won't be good life & good luck in the game
p/s: I always choose Normal mode in the game
This is one screenshot that thug run to my character when begging money at the main entrance of train station, thug also run toward my character at subway, labor office & some other shop that thug shouldn't appear but they does...
Please don't ask me why, because I don't have the authority to make my character so unlucky
Here's some tips:
When you die, your stats apparently become lower, so you should either buy the amulet that resets your stats, or start a new savefile.
When stealing, always take the winning scratch cards. Thugs can't take these from you, so you can basically smuggle money safely. Sell them at a tobacconist before you need to buy something expensive.
Always carry good or quality smokes, so you can bribe thugs. The jokes about a rum diet and an invisible man have saved me from thugs, but maybe the outcome is random.
When you start, focus begging from women and young men. They are easier to persuade but give less money.
Always chat with people one time before trying to beg. When your skill increase, you can try to speak twice to increase your chances.
The "tough" characters give the most money, and often carry expensive items. These are the bearded man, the wide hat man, the business suit man, and the large man with a sidecut hairstyle.
Langos is one of the best NPCs to meet early on. He will ask you to steal scrap metal and building materials. Always pay him the full amount to increase his trust more, so you can buy the Insolence perk faster. This perk is great for begging.
When Langos sends you to steal building materials, just scrap them on the crafting bench to get free crafting materials.
By the way, do you join the gang & which gang that you prefer in the game?
I recently screwed over Moiser by handing the special delivery to the pit boss but was still able to get back into Moiser's good graces with the help of Crazy. Not sure if i will still be able to get deluxe meth recipe yet or not form Don Kitty. Or if Mikey offers it as well at some point? So far this action allows for Leos to sell you some mid tier items every day you can flip for a profit. and gets you the pit bosses vote while still being able to have crazy restore rep with Moiser for cheaper meth, but learning the deluxe meth recipe is still up in the air for me. (There may even be a 3rd option here i am not seeing where you hand the special deliver to the cops but that is a test for another play through.)
As to which gang you should join getting into the fort Tony's gang is pretty advantageous early on go for that one 1st the rest will sort of happen as you play.
After that go focus on Bruno's gang so you can call off thugs and boost your attack.
Calling off thugs requires 100 trust with Bruno, which is only possible by selling him the liturgical items, as far as I know. And in late game, calling off thugs isn't needed anymore (with high attack and willpower, it's no problem to beat money out of them or intimidate them). Selling the stolen items from the church to Bruno also prevents getting Father Burian's vote (and getting +1 willpower), unless I missed something. Although I heard that not asking money for Mrs. Loudova's dog is enough to get Burian's vote without returning the stolen items to him, it didn't work for me. Maybe I missed something else with Burian, but I have no idea what and no one was able to answer that for me yet.
Thugs cannot detect you whether you have cash or not. He simply left his territory after some time and walk towards the station to disappear.
And there is only thug on that area (near bench far in front of station). So basically, you're just unlucky that he spot you on his way home.
Need to mention that half of the total of all the factions give really nice rewards for their early mission. The next mission usually need some levels in certain skill. So after you do their early mission, focus on surviving and improving your skill.
-Baron, quest from Struk to look for a corpse. +300c, Free clothes and a reward worth around 300c (you can choose a comfy bedding too)
-Bruno, quest from Fin, +300c and free stealing exp
-Moiser, quest from Ramsay, +300c, rewards worth 300c and 4 meth deluxe to sell (though its hard to sell w/o high WP or atleast expert speech skill)
-Father Burian, free Faith buff
Ferenz's cost you resources, Zachy's need you to get drunk using your own resources too. Crazy's doesnt cost you anything but you dont get money reward, as for Tony, you need to work for labor office a couple times just get inside the fort.
