So far the only way I have found is eating the hamburger (+5 HP) or fruit (lemon). I have also found some pills affecting illness factor. There is probably some NPC who can heal you but I am not sure where to find him.
It should heal (according to game instruction) but so far I could not figure this out (my hobo is not healing while sleeping or it is blocked/affected by some other factors which I am not aware of).
If youre dumpster diving alot, you should have many old textiles to craft bandages. Begging with mastery skill unlocked often give you bandage and medkit from avg/tough stranger. Stealing it is also an option. Some food and consumables also restore some hp
Bandages. Either find them, buy them, or craft them (5 old textiles each).
If you died too many times and your stat caps are very low, you should consider starting a new game (already knowing the game better makes the beginning much easier and faster). Or if you have or can make thousands in a reasonable amount of time, you can restore your stat caps with a talisman of recovery (costs 2k per one, which increases stat caps by 10%). Although the game is still playable with lower stat caps, it's even tougher than normally.
