Game keeps crashing
Whenever I start playing the game, within one or two minutes, it crashes to desktop without any error messages. My system specs shouldn't be an issue (see below), and I've upgraded my graphics card driver. Any ideas about what might be causing this?

  • Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
  • Intel i9-11900F
  • MSI GeForce RTX 3070 VENTUS 3X OC
  • Kingston HyperX Fury 2x16GB 3200MHz CL17 Black
  • AsRock Z590 PHANTOM GAMING 4[/list

I've just had a similar problem, I opened the game, and it just wouldn't start, it was stuck on a black screen. However, I recently experienced a similar problem with a couple of point and click games (I assume they didn't use unreal engine though), and what got those fixed for me was the following: I use a TV as a monitor, and use it as the sound device. For some reason, some games don't work well with that, and changing my sound device to my PC speakers fixes the problems. I tried it with this one and it worked. I recommend changing the sound device, and seeing if that fixes anything.

I am posting here the Ecliptica's (https://steamcommunity.com/id/EclipticaGaming) answer found when tring to fix simmilar issue in "The suicide of Rachel Foster". It fixed the issue for me.

```
If you have an Intel 10th+ generation chip, an OpenSSL bug prevents this game from loading. Fortunately the fix is safe and easy! All you have to do is add an environment variable. I had this issue and this fix worked for me.
This is the Intel issue in question: https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/articles/openssl-sha-crash-bug-requires-application-update.html
In case the first link stops working, here's a summary:
- Press WinKey+R to open Run window. In it paste: SystemPropertiesAdvanced
- Press Enter
- Click Environment Variables at the bottom
- Under System Variables, press New
- Add these values to the variable:
Variable Name:
OPENSSL_ia32cap
Variable value:
~0x20000000
Click Ok to close the windows, then try running the game again.
```
That seemed to do the trick! Thank you, P.K. - there is no way I would would have figured that out by myself. Have an award :steamhappy:

Do you mind if I share your post in the community of another game that this also fixed?
