Flamesword
People praise it but why?
It charge attack doesnt cost any stamina and leave trail of fire yes. But charge animation is too long which makes it pointless to use on any fast and range enemies.
Its basic attacks are same as normal sword .
Its awakening form lookls cool but useless as well. It leaves fire batches after every hit. Which almost always harm YOU instead of enemy in claustraphobic level desing this game has. So it is a disadvantage instead of advantage.
Attack speed and dmg are not that much faster than splinterspear whicdh does much more dmg per hit and has cool power.

If you using something like an axe-shield , you have to constantly react to an attack .

With flame sword you just do stun>3 hits , stun>3 hits . It takes a lot less skill per say.

Flamesword is bad in a sense that you will likely spend more life per enemy of you could avoid getting hit in a first place. If this game had less frequent checkpoints it would be a lot worse but you can kind of trade your life for stun and follow up .

Most hard enemies can be stuned before they have a chance to attack you.

You can use it on last 2 bosses but it takes some practise timing it

If you do not like flamesword what do you think about split-spear which stuns only one enemy for too short of a duration . And takes a huge chunk of your life ..

1. I dont even bother stunning with weapons at all. I just ram them when they dont have stamina after dodges and blocks and thats it.
2. Spear is the best weapon for pure melee character. It takes like one 6 of your life max which isnt much considering how much heals you have by that point. 4-5 permament and 4-5 pickups are norm.
3. Its awakened form is a strongest single hit dmg in the game as far as i saw.
4. If you are skilled player that means only one awakening needed as its form resets only after gettin hit.

Axe shield is meh. Shield part is worthless as it doesnt block bullets and melee attacks didnt do much block dmg to begin with, Axe is strong but not as strong as spear so why bother.

sword-spear is just your all round good starting weapon with no drawbacks at all,
Mage mace is good for extra charges and 50% stamina dmg for enemies on awakening,
Assault blade? Didnt try it yet.

Split spear is what I am maining in nightmare. The playthrough? Super damn easy. Psyker stim, psychic surge, cyroknesis, immortal blood, and split spear. Nightmare is a breeze also cause you get hp back from hits after you hit

The self-damage from the fire is actually quite helpful. As long as you're taking damage the red recoverable health will never decrease, meaning you can always recover HP by attacking. It also makes the item that heals red health more useful, especially with builds with high health since it'll heal more than the Immortal Blood.

only if you use that artifact or play nightmare mode,
The stun's still incredibly overpowered. I ran a Agi-less, strength-less, int-less build, and pulped things with the fire sword because of stun locking.
