Similar games?
That would be point and click with alot of dialogues/ heavily story based.

If you happen to own PS3, Heavy Rain is really good and quite similiar. Can't think of anything this good from PC right now, Planescape Torment is also heavily story based with lots of dialogue, bot from different genre (RPG). It's my favourite game of all time.

Check out The Dream Machine. The story isn't nearly as complex but it's really good. Unfortunately only 3 of the 5 chapters are out right now. Also, I think Syberia is supposed to be very similar but I haven't played it yet.

The Dream Machine looks really intresting, I'll check that out. I've played Syberia 1 & 2 and the games were fantastic. Also liked Broken Sword, Puzzle Agent series, Outcry, the stuff that the Amanita releases.

Aura: The fate of ages, Crystal Key 1 or 2, Syberia 1 or 2... to name a few...
my all time favorite game like this is return to mysterious island

Heck, my favourite book when I was a child was Mysterious Island and I played the games, they were fun.

TLJ has a lot of themes mashed together, so it's hard to think of a single game that provides a similar experience. Here's three somewhat random, but nevertheless wonderful, titles that have similar themes: Grim Fandango[www.amazon.com] takes you through a journey in the Land of the Dead, Blade Runner[www.amazon.com] features a dystopian hellscape not unlike Stark, and The Book of Unwritten Tales takes place in a quirky fantasy world.

Beyond that, narrative focus is the cornerstone of the genre, so just go nuts with the classics[www.adventuregamers.com].

For something more contemporary, have a look at games by Telltale, Daedalic, Wadjet Eye and King Art. They've all done a great deal to help revitalize the adventure game genre.

Daedalic is actually churning out a lot of good avg these days. I played Deponia and I loved it.

Take a look at Wadjet Eye's Blackwell series and Primordia, they're on Steam too. Very immersive adventures with great writing, a deep lore...

Syberia 1 and 2. Play them. They're brilliant.

I dont know any good point and click style games, but if you own a 3ds or a playstation vita theres this game call Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward. That game has an awsome story.

Since no one else mentioned it, check out GONE HOME :) :)

Are all point and clicks as obscure as TLJ? For example, I could never have figured out that one must combine a rubber duck, with a clamp, with a clothesline to retrieve the key: it seems to defy all logic. I would love to play a game like TLJ, but which is more "logical"!
