The Longest Journey

Windows 7 videos not playing, AGAIN
Ok... This is getting ridiculous. I've tried EVERY single possible solution I've found on the web, even from this site http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Longest_Journey which is very complete an' all...
Now I managed to actually see the in-game videos, but only if I play the game force-running it in a 640x480 window, and while the video plays I have to constantly move the mouse, or it freezes.
This does obviously KILL the game experience, since everything is so small and I can't even move the tiny window...
WHYYYY ;__;

(yes, this was a rhetorcal question, I know it's because it's 16 years old lol)

Yes, but none of them was successful. I also tried changing the Nvidia options for the game, but nothing worked...
Thanks for the quick answer anyway!

Thanks, but I'd tried that before starting this thread... Also tried the suggestions in the comments.. Nothing ç_ç At this point I'm thinking about parting the hard disk just to play this motherducking game! xD

ah. well i guess its pointless for me to keep searching. im guessing you tried messing with codecs already?

Eeehm I'm not really a computer expert, so I don't really know how to do it. And I don't want to mess too much since if I do something wrong I won't be able to fix it back...

Exept my game doesn't crash when a video should be played, the sound plays and the game is just fine, but it shows me a black screen instead of playing the video.

I'm trying to do as it says anyway, but I think I haven't got any codec pack installed on my pc (it doesn't show up when i search through through Control Panel -> Programs and Features), and as I said I don't know much about computers, so... I don't know where to find stuff!
Now I've downloaded the CCCP, I'll try with that... Lol what an odissey

*EDIT*: Installed and tried with the CCCP but it still doesn't play video images.

So, you said you went through everything at the wiki. Does that mean that, on a fresh install, you tried adding
[DirectX] bool_IsDoubleBuffer=0 bool_UseHardware=0
to both preferences files (your normal user and your admin user)?
