Freezing

Like the title says. Replaying the game and had no trouble the first time several months ago, but now it freezes whenever I try pretty much any operation. The game will play...for the most part, though freezes do happen at random. But attempting to save, minimize, change settings, etc all lock me up with a white screen over the game and the only way to get out is to completely shut down.

I figure it's a software problem and not a hardware issue since it worked before. But I can't imagine what could be interfering.

maybe try compatibility mode or running it as admin

Unfortunately that was the first thing I tried and it didn't do anything. That's usually what I try first when something won't work since it's the easiest fix to try.

it makes me think of permisssion issues (saving and changing settings would require changing some files or the registry). if you have an antivirus active try disabling it as well

The game frezzes for me too when i try to quit, then i have to force quit.

I'm actually having this problem now. Has anyone figured out a work around yet?

Same almost when I attempt to save I just get a white screen box.

Unfortunately I never did find a proper answer. The only way around it I found was to go to

%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\The Longest Journey\Save

And delete the saves, this will open up the slots to be reused without fear of freezing. Thanks to 5M0k1N and DDA in http://steamcommunity.com/app/6310/discussions/0/494632506569545210/ for that one. But if you’re freezing in areas other than when you save I sadly don’t have an answer.
