Can't play with a controller

Did anyone have trouble playing with a controller? Specifically a switch controller connected with a USB, mine works for every other game but I want to use it in this one and it won't pick it up and I can't find the option to swtich from keyboard to controller.

Try unplugging the controller to switch from controller to keyboard (or disabling if wireless).

As for controller compatibility, seems to be designed for xbox controllers (It's a microsoft game).

I havent tried using a switch controller. my daughter uses a ps4 bluetooth controller and it works great. The game still displays xbox letters though but its navigable.
