This is a recreation of a real theme park, while Dreamlight Valley is not.
Gameplay is completely different.

Dreamlight Valley is to be free to play at some point, but they are having an early access period for the time being. You are paying for an early access to the game, thus the founders packs.
Disneyland Adventures is the complete game as it was released in 2017. It is a remaster of the Kinect only game from 2011.

Dreamlight Valley hands down. Customize character, your home, the outside areas, fishing, farming, cooking, crafting. Disneyland Adventures looks like a walking simulator with on-rails gameplay.

I've had Dreamlight for quite awhile, and just bought Disneyland Adventures.. I like them both, they're unique in their own way, so there's no way to really compare them. I would get Disneyland Adventures right now while it's on sale for $4.99, then get Dreamlight when it becomes 'free to play', which shouldn't be too long from now.

Disneyland Adventures is a re-creation of the real park from around 2011. There is a lot of stuff intentionally missing from the game.
Another related Disney game is Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure, but its just a bunch of mini games.
Both Rush: A Disney Pixar Adventure & Disneyland Adventures are on Game Pass as a crossplay title.

I just want to run around Disneyland. In that sense, Disneyland Adventures is perfect. Like it's been stated in different reviews on this thread, they are two different games. Fetch quests in both, shop systems in both, but Dreamlight Valley is Crafting and resource management heavy.

dreamlight valley is the evil version because it gives you the ability to build disneyland attractions BUT you CANT ride the attractions, only look at them which is exactly copied from animal crossing...

in disneyland dreamlight valley you can even play together with a friend local or use remote play together and play online together, this is a huge plus especially for familys with lil kids, so they can explore disneyland together, ride attractions, customise and wear much different stuff like this cute teddybear costume or nemo fish costume.

the dreamlight valley multiplayer is not local, only online you cant use any attraction they all FAKE, using multiplayer will handycap you and you cant do quests or other important stuff, its like a north korea like multiplayer, leashing your guests and they cant interact with other characters without allowance or enter buildings only drop items or fetch items like pluto...

dreamlight valley itself is ok but be afraid of seeing it vanish everymoment like the other disneyland games with servers shutting down after making to less cash, see: disney infinity 1,2,3 and this virtual magic kingdom mmo and much others, only this free2play paytowin disney magic kingdoms mobile games keep the server alive because moneymouse like them more....

Disneyland Adventures is a re-creation of the real park, missing things due to licenses.
Dreamlight Valley is not Disneyland.
Disney Magic Kingdoms has you build the attractions to progress the storyline. Many attractions are from the real parks. This is a free to play title, not a mmo.

As of Oct 27, 2023, Dreamlight Valley had dropped the free to play plan, continuing to be a paid game.
On Dec 5, 2023, the game left Early Access.
