Anything past that you're forced to seek parties in order to get endgame gears from raids (I say gears cause you have 3 sets to get in order)
Well technically it's your fault for miss clicking, you can't hold anyone responsible but yourself lol.
The gap to KR in terms of patches is increasing month by month and this won't change. They just want your money and won't give you anything in return.
Just wait for PSO II
Rookie raids are soloable. The game now give you a free Terminus set, which was equivalent to Aurith(slightly worse than Shion back in the day) which could solo all rookie raids once upgrade to +6 armor and +7 weapon.
Although Junk Hive and Iron Castle would be fairly hard if you make any mistakes.
Golden Citadel is also soloable if you have either Primal or AoV weapon, you don't even need a super good armor.
AoV, Skyclock, and Primal are not solo friendly until you get endgame gears, akasha and brooches. Well you get unlimited respawn in skyclock so technically you can just die a bunch.
Raids are optional, but they give you way better gears and its worth doing, but once again not mandatory for story content.
It really depends on what you play the game for.
