Alien Swarm not running well
I'm pretty sure my PC meets the recommend specs but I'm getting big frame drops on very low settings. I also think my average FPS should be a bit higher for recommend specs.

Settings:

Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 16:9
Resolution: 1280 X 720
Display Mode: Full Screen

Anti-Aliasing Mode: NONE
Filtering Mode: BILINEAR
Wait For Vertical Sync: DISABLED
Multicore Rendering: DISABLED
Shader Detail: LOW
Effect Detail: LOW
Model/Texture Detail: LOW
Paged Pool Memory Available: HIGH

PC Specs:

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 270 @3.4 GHz
MEMORY/RAM: Transcend 1333MHz 4GB DDR3
GPU: AMD Asus Radeon HD 5450 512MB
- Catalyst Version 15.10 Beta
- Core Clock 650 MHz
- Memory Clock 700 MHz
HDD: WD Blue 1TB

On the first misson in 'offline practice' here's what I got:

Frames: 17217 - Time: 481781ms - Avg: 35.736 - Min: 12 - Max: 73\

Thanks for the help!

For dual core cpu you can enable Multicore Rendering to gain some performance.
Also add these commands into the bottom of this file
[Path to Steam]\SteamApps\common\Alien Swarm\swarm\cfg\newmapsettings.cfg
mat_grain_enable 0 mat_bloom_scalefactor_scalar 0 mat_vignette_enable 0 mat_depth_blur_focal_distance_override 0 mat_depth_blur_strength_override 0 fps_max 64
They will give you extra frames per second and clearer graphics.

Also you may want to take a look at Alien Swarm Reactive Drop mod which has great single player support for lots of maps both official and custom and has additional performance settings.
[Path to Steam]\SteamApps\sourcemods\reactivedrop\cfg\newmapsettings.cfg
rd_env_projectedtexture_enabled 0 // disable moving lights, increases performance rd_info_particle_system_enabled 0 // disable preplaced smoke, fire, sparks on maps, increases performance rd_simple_beacons 1 // simplify heal and damage amplify beacons, increases performance rd_func_precipitation_enable 0 // disable snow, rain and ash effects, increases performance
