Because the game still works. Regardless of its abandoned state, it's still eons better as a game than the 1000s of asset flips and whatever, no to mention the disclaimer on the store page:
" This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development"
If you buy it without further research, that's on you.
The first few hours aren't representive of the rest because progress is actually possible in that time frame.
It's not that they abandoned it, it's that they literally don't have the resources to work on it. In the middle of really poor reception, half their fan base starts screaming not to buy the game (before they started laying off team members mind you). So on top of people saying they don't like the game, they start boycotting the game. Great. Why in the *♥♥♥♥* would anyone expect updates to this game? The horse is dead, we can stop beating it with a stick.
And honestly, their new game Poker Quest does look good.
However, a lot of angry angry people are still upset about this game.
Seriously thank you to everyone starting topics like this and leaving the reviews that explain things. You managed to keep me from buying this game so I'm sure you're doing the same for others too. Keep being awesome.
Early Access games have a banner that specifically states "This game may not be completed."
IT is a legal catch all.
Not sure why you think an Early Access game must be completed.
Regardless, while it is a shame it isn't completed, the Early Access warning makes it very clear when you buy an Early Access game that it comes as is, with all possible wording framed to let you know what you're getting into.
It's like Sky Diving and how there's so many different warnings and forms you have to fill out.
That's weird.
It should work fine.
Here is an extract from that link provided in the early comment:
''We should have realized that many players would assume the product was complete before they bought it. Some who purchased it didn’t know what “Early Access” meant, and it was their first time installing Steam. Many players simply bought the sequel without any research, expecting a finished game (for an idle game – this means “infinite” content), and they were terribly disappointed. This was a failure on our part.''
Have you any idea how slimey that wording is? They basically dump all the problems on the players for ''not knowing what early access is'' and give a passive aggressive apology. The entire thing is filled with crap like that, just nonstop side stepping the actual issue while making it seem like its all the player bases fault. They should quit making games and going into politics instead.
Dont defend scumbag companies like this, save your energy for the ones who deserve it.
It's completely absurd to do that.
So, no, you're not allowed to call it slimy when it is LITERALLY how Early Access works.
LOL wut.
Are you just purposefully misreading my words?
Sorry but im not going to bother discussing something with you when its obvious you are just trolling for attention.
