I used ascend on plan complete so that I could get all the nodes I needed since otherwise you are wasting time grabbing early junk nodes. So ascending every 2 systems isn't a problem if you are grabbing nodes efficiently.
What blue node are you grabbing that speeds you up again? Also what are you generally building towards?
After that off to the +gold part to get the Huge Click Discount, and lastly up to the top left part to get Synchrony and Restraint since auto-attacks restore energy and haste makes you auto-attack faster.
Except the minor nodes that accompany haste (huge/big clicks etc etc), I also focus on minor nodes like:
+ Monster and Treasure Chest Chance/Gold
+ All Types of armor +Dmg
Not to mention if they are close and easy to get like (for future Reload/Powersurge Build):
+ Crit+Crit Dmg
+ Mana, Mana Regen, Energy
+ Better Reload
+ Powersurge Efficiency/Duration for future Reload/Powersurge Build
That's mostly it, idk if I'm spending too much or if I'm picking the wrong stuff.
The nodes that a good to focus as a base are:
- Gold Received
- Click Damage
- Monster Gold
- Huger Clicks
- Bigger Clicks
- Item Cost Reduction
Gold basically translates into straight damage so these are all basic DPS builders. Once you are a few transcends in you'll also want to pick up:
- Crit Chance and Damage
- Treasure Chest Chance and Gold
- Powersurge damage
- Clickable Chance and Gold (once you have Libertas)
Those will slow you down if you take them too early, but are needed to keep up pace later.
Things like:
- Haste
- Energy
- Mana
- Item Damage
should really only have extra points put into them since they don't really help your damage output. It may seem like item damage would help, but its basically 1/8th as valuable as any other damage source since you would need one of each type of item in order to equal the same as an increase to Click Damage.
Mana crit is completely useless since you can't use it during a storm with huge click so don't even bother putting points into it.
That is how I focused on nodes and got to Star System 250.
tl;dr when picking nodes think to yourself "how does this contribute to my DPS? Could something else add more DPS?"
