As the one above me said, go ascend after every star system. Use automator: On first world of system: pause, this will stop progress after you unlock a new star system.
On the first haste runs, focus on haste, click damage, multiclick and big clicks. On later haste runs, multiclicks are kind of useless if they aren't powered by a big click, so I would try to have about the same multiclicks as big clicks. Try not to take too many boot nodes, only when you have to. Cape and Body armor are much better because there are more nodes. but you should first prioritize the other mentioned nodes.
On the gold nodes, go for all the gold, bonus gold and monster gold. The other nodes are kind of not needed. So if you still feel like going crit, go for upgrading huge click with the spare points that you have left, or clickables if you play active, or just put them in rings anyway.
On the energy path, actually take the item cost reduction. A lot of people, including me, have been stuck on the first level of the first world because they need to kill mobs before they can buy the first weapon item. Item cost reduction solves this a little bit. But it also compliments the gold route. The other important nodes are chest chance and chest amount. And lastly extra energy is nice. It will make clickstorm a little longer after a level up, so haste runs will be a little better. And maybe some spares in mana regen. I haven't found any use to increase max mana tho.
On later haste runs I'd not forget the cape and body armor nodes. They can be very valuable and I think their value is a bit underrated. Stacking on both gives good extra damage. Also use the 'upgrade to next multiplayer' and not 'upgrade newest item', because that way your cape and body will be upgraded like the rest.
But this is all my opinion. Again, if you go casual difficulty, do whatever you want, test what works for you and then make a new character when you have a solid plan and know what works and doesn't work.
haste, haste, gold, crit, haste, gold, gold, gold, energy until you wall.
Key points to remember.
You don't need manacrit nodes, because you're not going to be in the crit tree for long. DO use the skill though. This is your main progression point as it can clear 3 zones when you have huge click and manacrit stacked. Only get the crit damage, equipment passives and energize stuff.
you don't need more than 26 multiclick points. The rest can go into click, equips, big click damage. The next breakpoint would be 33. Beyond that it's not totally required unless you can EASILY reach the 100+ mark.
Doing just one path is the worst thing you can do, because you're missing out on multipliers from other paths. I'm not talking about the skill multipliers, you're not going to need all the skill multipliers. (see how powersurge and mana crit are ignored.) No, you'll be missing gold, bonus gold, monster gold, several different equip multipliers (which will cause you to stall when you're using those items as the 'main' items) critical damage, cost reductions...
[edit to add clarity about what 'not getting manacrit' means]
How do you do more than 1 path in a go...? 3 of the 4 paths become unobtainable when I am leveling...
first 2 runs you do haste. the 2nd/3rd time you ascend you go the gold or energy path.
the bonus from the 2- runs haste before you keep your bonus. (not the big nodes. they will reset with ascend)
you dont keep the skill. just the bonus you unlocked so far.
just an example as simple as possible (this is not possible to reach just to udnerstand)
you start at haste tree.
you get the skills
Big Clicks
Powersurge
Energize
MultiClick
ClickTorrent
now you start at the top of the skilltree. you select every multiclick node possible and level you multiclick to 100 attacks.
at the end when it slows to much you ascend.
now you select again a tree. maybe haste again.
now you have the skills
Big Clicks
Powersurge
Energize
MultiClick
ClickTorrent
but your multiclick starts at 100. now you level it with nodes to 150. game slows down again you ascend again.
this time you select gold path
your skills are now
Huge Click
MultiClick
Golden Clicks
Reload
as you can see you cant usw energize because you dont have it BUT your multiclick is also here at 150.
and so on. you keep the bonus from nodes but not the skill. so you can improve a skill endless...
i would suggest to read some guides maybe this one
