DlC leveling

So im on mission 7 and own the dlc, but my shark is stuck at level 30.... Is this an issue, or will he level up after the story ends.

Have you beat scaly peat for the 2nd time, if you have it should let you level up

[Worthwhile]

You can only level up when you beat the game, and enter the DLC Area. (DLC is only unlocked after beating the game)
