Black Screen with Sound on Linux

So the title says it all. I can hear the game sounds, but it's completely black. Im running Linux Mint 18.3 64bit, with a Nvidia GTX 980. No idea what's going on.

I thought this bug was fixed. Anyway you need to edit ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/AAWoM/arena/config.cfg and set
vid_fullscreen "1" (with the quotes)

Thanks, i changed default.cfg, and it worked great. Then it created config,cfg.

I was able to reproduce it and using

set vid_fullscreen "1"

in default.cfg fixed it.
It seems it has to be with a space, not a tab, and with quotes.

I updated default.cfg, it should be available in the next release.

I am having this same problem. default.cfg is already set with 'set vid_fullscreen "1"'. Is there anything else I can try? I have a GTX 1050 card and I'm using nvidia-driver-460.

OK. I just did a few tests. It all seems to work if I first remove all the "fullscreen" options from default.cfg, or config.cfg if the latter exists. Sometime on or after startup, though, config.cfg is (re)generated with all the fullscreen options. I can keep the game working by overwriting config.cfg before each startup.

Did I mention I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS? I have an integrated UHD 630 card, but I believe nvidia-driver-460 is using my GeForce GTX 1050 card.

It doesn't ring a bell why this could be happening. What if you use this command in the console:

vid_fullscreen 1

There is also a (hidden) other fullscreen mode: 2 (exclusive fullscreen) or even windowed (0). If you can't fix it you can join us on discord and we can try some things.

Just saw your update. It's a new issue to me. I think config.cfg should be written when you exit Alien Arena, containing your current settings. Does it even write modified settings?

Hi. I don't seem to have a "vid_fullscreen" utility. Should it be installed? The game reliably generates the updated config.cfg on a clean exit. I assume it applies some defaults after finding no fullscreen options in the original config, but I haven't seen the code so I'm just guessing. Appreciate the discord invite but it looks like there's a problem setting up the account. Anyway, the game does work with the config overwrite.
