English patch finished!

Starting a full eng patch translation for this game.
Working with the old version atm (testing phase).
But will move to Steam version when it's done. Anyone interested ?

If you read my post. It's super easy to make the game run with English text.
Install the portable version
Copy the english patch.
Run the exe file.

Thank you so much for this patch and all the hard work! I was curious if you used any particular tool to do the translation work. I was messing around with the files in the msg folder and noticed that any changes to a file would throw off all the other parts of that file unless the exact spacing was kept. I was thinking a Spanish or German translation might be cool (these games can never have too many fans!), but I'm not particularly good with tech, so any guidance you could give would be amazing!

For simple you can use San10Editor. Just google it. Here a simple guide about san10editor :

But they only let you change one message a time. It really take time. We need a way to mass update the message file if you want to translate the game. At time I work with rtk10. I use autoIT to do the mass update. Then do the translation in an excel file, then run the script so it update like 1000 lines to the msg file. This way take time, update the full file may take 10 minutes.
But in version rtk11, I found a better way, write a new tool then update the msg file. If you are serious contact me. I will help you with a tool.

Because it's still in beta, I havent finished it. I keep the number to let me know, which line is the message, so if it's error, I can track it and fix it. Just finished translate rtk11 into my language. Maybe someday I will comeback to this project and finish it. Life is short, too many games to play :(

Just want to say I am rooting for you making a translation patch. I don't have a PS2 anymore and I want a way to play this game again. Spent so much time just wandering around China and helping different factions, even making my own. So much replayability it's insane.

I noticed a lot of officiers with mispellings/missing letters and even some with numbers in their names, I hope you're still working on perfecting this patch.

Because there is a limit in name length. In chinese Zhang Fei, only need 2 char : 張飛, so it need only 4 byte (1 chinese use 2 byte) to do store the name. but to Display ZhangFei in english we will need 8 byte (1 char 1 byte). So we need to shorten the name to ZhaFei.

Some hero still have number in name, because there are about 7xx heroes, and some are very unknown, so I dont have time to test them all.

you probably need to install some version of .net framework, should be apparent from the error which version you need
