But.. I did a bit of research after this and couldn't find any kind of talk about a second game. The original game was released on psp back in 2013, then a remake was made for vita in 2016 and finally the English version released in 2018/19. It's been such a long time since the original psp version was released and I couldn't find anything about a sequel game which makes chances pretty low I guess and makes the epilogue and trailer even more disappointing to me :< If plans for a sequel game wasn't set in stone then I wish they had just left the ending to what it was after the main story instead of throwing that epilogue in.
Anyway sorry for the lengthy reply haha, I was kind of waiting for people to finish up the game so I could have a little ramble :P
It looks like they already had artwork and some other elements made for it; Watson's epilogue sprite seems to be one, as well as the line art for their older selves in the extra preview at the very end.
Hopefully it sells amazingly well and they can finish what it seems like they'd started. I hope your email brings good news!
The new sprite was actually something I think they had to change when making the PS Vita Crown version where they had to change over some VAs and the artist, although I'm not 100% sure, but Watson just looks way older than everyone else and I'm just like
And it's actually already been about half a month since sending in that email and I still haven't heard anything back from them, but if I do hear anything back I'll be sure to post their reply on here.
I'm slightly more optimistic in the possibility of a sequel for a few reasons: 1) they ported the game to PC, meaning they think there is still an audience for LDM, 2) their twitter account still regularly promotes LDM (things like character b-days and reminders to check out the game on the PS store) and 3) according to their new years blog, most of their 2019 was dedicated to launching their new mobile game "Otome Ken Musashi" and (rough translation) "it was difficult to develop other [games], but all of the [old games] were still loved and [the fans] delivered support to the characters, so all the staff were happy."
So if we assume they decided to make a sequel to LDM sometime around 2014-2015 and released the new content in 2016, that means it's really only been about 3 years for Karin Entertainment to work on developing a sequel. Add on the fact that they apparently lost 2019 to development of "Otome Ken Musashi," leaves only about 2 years to work on it. Take into account they have other otome/BL projects.....Really, they haven't had much time to develop the LDM sequel, even if they still intend to.
I'm not holding my breath, of course, but I am willing to say that the interest seems to be there, and the hypothetical timeline isn't as damning as it first seems. Guess we'll have to see what happens in the next 1-2 years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
