Seriously, a 2D fighting game in 2020?

Obviously, i don't play fighting games much, but this game is basically back and forth in 2D space... left, right, left left left, right, jump!. I just can't imagine people actually playing a game that you can't move around in a three dimensional space in 2020. I understand that old games were 2D but they're old. what's the attraction? I'm kinda baffled.
