Is the gear unfair?

Hello there,
i just bought the game and startet my first match online. What do you think about the gear, i thougt it have pro's & con's, but my first opponent in ranked match just had much better stats in each category :C

I had the feeling that he hit like a train, while myself attacked cotton candy boxing gloves^^....

Welp is grinding a must if you want to play online?

just play ranked or competitive mode with gear turned off

for ranked matches all of the buffs are turned off—it becomes cosmetic gear for bragging rights only.

I mean, I think it's actually a good thing in a way. It forces people to learn thier character in offline settings before jumping back in. hitting level 20 and getting gear isn't that difficult with regen tokens. In the short time I've played, I've nearly got three or four characters to 20, with some level 5's and 7's hanging around on the sidelines.

You can even have the game farm for you while you're gone, so I mean.....

You can play Unranked Matches in Competitive Versus too.

An issue with the competitve stuff is that I don't think you can use the unlockable abilities tho.

Maybe they are considered *too good*, I dunno.

In normal unranked player matches (The most popular mode) it IS unfair
Even if you are both lv 20 , if the other guy has 4 epic gear's he has a big advantage if you dont have similar gear

BTW it's nice to play against people with greater level gear than you... and win hehe...

well thats true!
but a lil nub like me will loose even against peoples with lower gear

Just lab your fav char and learn some frame data stuff and long comboes.

Gear doesn't matter in ranked or competitive player match. It's just cosmetic there
