How does the ranked work?

I've played 2 games online, my level is low, but i get 20 level guys all the time with full gear whereas my Harley Quinn is only 7 level and has crappy gear. How do i get players with similar level or gear? Also, because i just started playing the game i struggle to do even the simplest combos, but the guys against me just do insane damage when they get a chance to combo. What is the point of ranked matches, if it can't even match me with similar players?

I reccommend tagging the best combos, that way they appear on-screen while you're fighting. Doing the combos is a matter of inputting the correct buttons as quickly as you can, there's no other kind of timing to it (as I found out).
The point of ranked matches, I would imagine, is getting a rank. Which might be hard if you're not that good at the game or if you fight difficult opponents.

Level and even "pure" win/loss ratio don't matter in ranked matches. Instead, ranked points (I assumed based in ELO rating system).

Always consider that matchmaking will try to match you with the closest available players in the ranking but, as the available people is very low, you can be matched with somebody "apparently" very far in ranking.

levels and gear arent active in ranked mode and all additional stats are null.
