You can appear to be jumping above the lasso and still get hit.
It's kinda like projectiles...I suspect they have an interesting hitbox since simply jumping over projectiles in this can be tricky.

Avoiding it isn't too easy in my experience...fighting a super AI makes it pretty funny too since you like jump and it instantly does the lasso and wham.
I do wish those whiffy shields would whiff on me when I fight Wondies, but it's just bam bam.
I also would love to have that overhead lasso whiff like that on me...but ain't seen it happen on me.
The jumping attack things tho...I have noticed that before when I've played as her. To where I'd feel hesitant to use jump buttons.
NRS' concepts of jump attacks is overall weird in this game...they can tend to feel and hit oddly in general. While Batman's is like on steroids.
Of course any character can be annoying as an AI boss, but NRS doesn't (and shouldn't) balance the game around the Multiverse. This is why AI loadouts exists- counter BS with BS.
It is weird and that's why I said/assume it's wonky or broken, you can be well above it and still get grabbed, or be in the air in front of her and then she grappels you and you teleport waay back and take like 110 dmg, you can dodge it by a regular block and sometimes ducking or jumping. It's just hard to tell and extremely frustrating, playing the campaign on Hard difficulty and that's all she spams especially when she locks you in a corner it can be infuriating as she combos with her shield she/the AI can sometimes get a second grapple in.
damnnn, that's insaneeee, I don't have a problem with her other moves at all it's just the grapple lasso as you can't seem to properly jump over it or duck it''s very inconsistent against a Hard AI, but jumping attcks not even registering would be insanely annoying if anyone loves to play as her
The multiverse bosses however illustrate the game design taken to its extreme end.
But I've had Wondie fights against humans where any movement in means instantly getting smacked with a shield or lasso...and it's not like if you're walking or dashing you can block on reaction. And you can jump and get hit by the lasso too...you'll be above it and actually teleported into it. ;)
If you do get in on a Wondie they like to do I think her d12. But basically they do that, and unless I got lucky with a d1 and throw, I pretty much couldn't do anything without getting hit by the double swipe again. And I'm at like point blank range. It's like get a d1 of your own in, or nothing. But somehow they could do their d12 and have time to stand and do a mixup combo while whatever I'm doing doesn't exist.
I didn't try backdashing since well, why do I want to get away when it was tough to get in in the first place.
But of course judging from online can be tough since the online quality can be whatever. I was fighting a Red Hood earlier and stuff just felt odd, then I saw they were in Korea heh.
I learned from a turtle fight recently that while you can punish a -18 on block move in practice but online you might not be able to.

Pls dont bother with the ai in this game as no matter what difficulty the ai will always read your inputs forcing you to play in a frustrated manner which does not let you get better at the game in general. NRS netcode is a bit weird when it comes to online games so there might be several reasons as to why you are unable to dodge a character specific move online compared to offline.
hahahha, yeah I must admit that thing has some incredible speed and length
