This thread is for those of us of a particular bent. A time trial lap of Snaefell Mountain in "hardcore mode"...
  • 1st person view (aka helmet cam)
  • No course aids (racing line / map / corner names / arrows / ghost)
  • Riding Style: simulation
  • No crashes
...this is of course the only way to play this crazy awesome game :)

The rules;
  1. Gameplay footage
  2. Hardcore mode as stipulated above
  3. Lap timer must be on
  4. Must confirm settings just prior to lap start (when in gear 4 to make cut-paste video edit cheating harder)
  5. Must confirm settings just after lap end
Good luck!

I'll edit this post to always list all the confirmed times on both categories - anyone that can complete the challenge deserves to be listed on post 1 :) Top 3 get video embeds.

Tha fat lad at the back... is getting faster.... :P

Long sticks - total revalation Fishticks! Couldn't imagine playign without them now. Even switched on Rocket League :o

That is an awesome time on Sector 12. I'm in my 40's you younger guys should be able to mop the table with me no problem! :-).

Thx! And lol.... I'm mid 40's too :) And yes - we both should be finding better things to be doing with our time :P

Here's my Superbike entry. It's not the most graceful lap :) There's a few close calls, especially my usual Governors' Bridge self-sabotage, but I survived.

Really nice run! Made it look easy. I can't even make it around the circuit on a Superbike lol. That run will remained unchallenged for a while (at least from me) !

Nice one Timbo - good to see a superbike time posted at last 👍 and you did indeed prove me wrong about the corner names by improving your time without them :)

Great ride - playing a lot with the track limits & kerbs - the moment at 5min must have had you clenching your cheeks! And yes, Governors bridge seems to have some sort of magnets for your bike :P ... that was *really* close.

Will be a couple of weeks before I move over to Superbike's - want to find the time I know I have in the Supersport first.

Thanks, Fishsticks, Jez, and Bombdogs.

I didn't mean to test the track limits on that lap. It happened at the end of a long session. I was tired and frustrated, but I thought I would give it one more try. I was getting sloppy. Fortunetly, I kept the bike upright.
Timbo May 6, 2018 @ 4:24pm
Don't give up yet, Jez. We all have hard days. And if you quit now, all that time you spent will be for nothing.
Bombdogs May 6, 2018 @ 6:03pm
Enjoy your break Jez :)

I hear you regarding the devs - but for £35 they have delivered their end of the bargain for this iteration. We've all had pretty decent VFM :) Perhaps for TTIOM2 we'll get better...

You'll be back - the lure of the mountain is too great ;)

I may bow out of the Superbike portion fellas. The odd physics of this game are multiplied 2x on these atrocities. They just aren't fun to ride. That and I absolutely can't stand the electric weedwacker audio of the Suter. Unfortunately it's the only competitive bike though due to its superior handling and acceleration. Interestingly enough have you at all noticed the Norton hits 211mph???....Yeah ok devs 211mph!!!!! ! lol... It handles and brakes like hot garbage though so I guess that makes up for it. I wish Mcguiness good luck on that rocket of death j/k lol. Also, the exceedingly close gear ratios of these bikes has them both sounding and feeling like the clutches are worn and slipping. I could go on and on but its just all too much for me. Superbikes completely break any suspension of disbelief.

So...sticking with the 600cc's for now. They feel more like bikes in the real world (well....all except the 190mph top speeds of course)

EDIT: Sorry for the rant but you would think the devs would realize what they did with superbikes is an absolute mess. :-(

I guess I did the right thing by learning the game with the Suter. I enjoy it a lot, and I think the supersport bikes feel odd. Maybe I just need to spend 40 hrs with them before I'm comfortable.
Timbo May 7, 2018 @ 3:20am
OMG. I was 0.3 seconds away! I might have been quicker if I didn't have the curse of Governors Bridge :(

Ahh man that's heartbreaking - really good ride! Your new time is up on post 1.

I think we'll need to be calling you by your proper TT nickname now...

Canyonero "The Bridge Guv'nor" Timbo

Yeah I'm just more of a sim guy I guess. When you've got bikes running 14 minute laps on the mountain circuit something is not right. The 600cc times in-game are closer to the 1 liter times IRL. So the entire game is a bit goofy. Nice time with the 16:25 btw!!!!!!

It's defo not a sim, much more a bike game with a laser scanned monstrosity :)

But - top times on most sims tend to be ahead of what can be achieved IRL.

Plus the real life riders of the TT are a good deal more inside the limit than we are here - they don't get to restart after killing themselves for the 200th time... :P

Definitely! It's still fun don't get me wrong. The 600's are just a more immersive experience. :-)

I may give the Superbikes one more shot. It's just super annoying everyone has to use the Suter to get a fast time lol. Maybe the devs will do a balance pass over the bikes in the next patch. Doubt it though lol
