bandit ambush spawns NPCs out of thin air?
So I got the bandit "ambush" event on a tile so I decided to reload the tile to do some testing.

I spammed "examine surroundings" with Pathfinder on and every tile showed up blank. I double checked that there were no NPCs anywhere in the rest of the woods before I started the test. As soon as I crossed a certain arbitrary tile, all the bandits just magically spawned where there was nothing before. Is that..intended?

I can use that ability to spot a tile trap on the floor behind a shelf 12 tiles away but I can't detect 6 dudes and 3 dogs standing right next to me? I feel like it's just too convenient that skills will work consistently in every other aspect of the game except the one the devs don't want it to

Scripted event so... maybe they use burrows to hide their presence like the trapdoor spiders 😂.

LOL spider bandits :Caveling_Skull:
You're correct, ambush events cause brigands to just appear out of thin air.

Even if you just passed through there and used Examine Surroundings repeatedly while you were there, as soon as you trigger the ambush, some one-skull brigand or dog can just appear where you were.

It can be jarring. You'll think "I was just there and there was no one, so how did that brigand get there?".

Yes.

It is quite rare, though. My current gal is level 16 and I haven't seen a single one because I don't use roads that much.

Spider 🕷️🕸️ Bandit gang, wonder if they'll use poisons too later and more nets 💀. Imagine Robber Barons using that on you...

Thats no mere ambush, thats orbital deepstrike.

They spawn from all directions at edge of you sight range and assault all at once. Its obious they have access to something as mobile as teleporters and high-end communication devices to make sure nobody rushes forward before anyone else. Aliens confirmed men.
True, its designed as an orbital strike.
For me the most obvious part when i was walking from top to bottom in a straight like and suddenly there were enemies on the left and right but also behind me coming from the exact middle, no escape😀
The goal is to have a challenge, i cant be upset since its a good challenge to keep players away from high level areas
