green - good for you
red - bad for you
Did you look at screenshots?
They're referring to the merchant's POV.
Merchant sells to you and buys from you. The multipliers reflect that
I sure hope and expect that the developers will find a different way to express and improve this feature of the game.
I choose to give devs a pass, as is, because it is clear there is a lot of stuff they are working on. Take for example the fact that they just lowered the base "buying" (that means shop buying) price of valuables from .6x to .5x. One of the effects this had was reduce the profits from the Jeweler's shop in Brynn. Now, instead of saving gems/gold for Brynn Jeweler's shop what I will do is simply sell gold/silver/gems anywhere (smith, etc) where I have already achieved respect (+10% shop buying bonus) and get a good economy bonus (shop buying +10% or so). So, then, what is the point of the Jeweler as a game feature? Just the name? I choose to believe that obviously (my belief) the devs are still reworking the game. So I give them a pass. But this is still a problem. Game this promising shouldn't have to be riddled with little problems.
As a mention of the little problems, and a case where the red bad green good rule does not apply and causes ambiguity, is the description of the settlement affected by banditry. There is a reference to the stock "frequency" being +30% and marked in red. If frequency is increased that means the restock rate is faster - so why is it in RED???? Common sense suggests It's supposed to be labelled in red indeed because it's supposed to be a bad situation. In other words, it's supposed to be slower frequency. Less than 100%. So the +30% is a bad indicator. Furthermore, how is it coded? as -30% or as .7? There's a difference. Why didn't they just write "time to restock". I don't know. Translation problems most probably. Little problems that can be ignored by folks just walking by.
Unfortunately for dev it's the accumulation of little problems like this that make the game less accessible and less profitable at the store. But, don't take this in a bad way. Game is a lot of fun. Has a lot of neat features. The story line so far is great. I especially love the dialogue options. The writing is superb!!! I have to say this again, the game writing is superb!!!! I hope they will be able to keep working on this game.
+30% selling prices
+20% buying prices
While at merchant it is reversed:
+20% selling prices (well +26% tbh)
+30% buying prices
Just confusing me a little and I thought they are reversed or bugged. But now I think it is probably not straight numbers instead it is random ±10 deviation, so it got shuffled in my case, just to confuse me more 😂 Makes sense now.
Sack of Grain average price is 280 crowns in Inventory, went to Miller
he has -13% selling Green -9% Buying Red, I have respected in Osbrook so +10% Favorability adjustments.
Suppy Mark up is 1.2x
Food is +32% Red so an abundance it seems 🤔.
Now I check his Sack of grains and it's 242 Crowns.. Perfectly cheap to haul to Brynn Bakery or use for upgrades.
Markup 0.9x
Markup +5% Green (wth is this?)
Sacks of Grain 1.05x but hey he buys it atm for 323 crowns..
Perfect wanted to get his Beer anyways which is at 216 crowns.
I don't know if sacks of grain qualify as "food", but probably not, it's just a commodity so the event fluctuation probably isn't affecting it.
