Hunting dangerous animals, like the bear or bison
There is a quest for pelts for both of these, but I realise that the bear and the bison will just make utter mincemeat of my character. What advice, instruction does everyone have for hunting these beasts? I have read elsewhere that traps are key, although the few times I tried I screwed it up. The spring trap and the caltrops I assume are the only traps in game at this time? What level and weaponry is recommended? I assume trap, bait into the trap, shoot with some arrows, bait into another trap (repeat)? Any tips on actually making sure this goes well? Thank you!

some of these quests are outdated because they are somewhat balanced for an older state of the game where you ocasionally could find these in chests.
it gets super obvious with rams quest of the brandy since brandy has become much more rare and expensive and the ammy he gives is much less in value

that being said, 3 bear traps in a row do a lot of work
You get those pelts for free in time - either find them as loot or your carvaan folloower give you free pelts once per week... it is just matter of time.

Otherwise I had zero issues with animals on build with large block and electro mage, but on most others I jsut evade them - risk/reward ratio stay too bad in my book, especiaily now with toehr reliable sources.

yeah, thats how i did the quest as well, you can kill a bear or moose that early except if you cheese but you can just wait or get lucky looting or even by stealing it sometimes

man that amulet makes me unreasonably angry, I always forget between updates that its worthless within maybe 3 hours of a new character so I find a brandy and get excited only to be massively disappointed, then i forget and next year upon the next update i do it all over again.
You can get an achievement from killing a bear before level 5.

I imagine you can do this by first getting a knapsack, then buy as many claw traps and caltrops as you can. (Do this with a Dirwin obviously.) When you find a bear, work out a path that you will lure the bear through, and place claw traps along that path. Then aggro the bear and let it walk through your series of traps.

Another thing you can do, if you get lucky, is lure the bear into a pack of wolves or boar or something. You can Shout lure them, because they will go investigate the source of your Shout, and if a boar meets up with a bear they'll fight.
Thank you all. I wasn't overly worried about the quest or the achievement, I wanted to try my hand at hunting mostly for the xp and to see if I could do it without being butchered.
