We are gearing the way you already know yourself.
Until then, you make do with rings and amulets from the jewelers, gear you find, and things the tailors sell. There are now nice boots that add to energy and energy restoration, while lowering fatigue costs. Must get for mages IMO.
The Elf emporium also has a good tier 4 belt that you can get a lot sooner than the magic store's stuff.
In my game, I got really lucky, my first dungeon I got a tier 2 magic circlet and a tier 1 belt that lowers backfire. (that last one can be bought cheap from a tailor, but free is better)
Later, in a Tier 2 dungeon, I got a tier 3 mage gloves.
But to put it in perspective, at level 22, I finally found a better (wanderers) mantle, and finally stopped using Jonah's mantle... Still using the Tier 2 circlet and tier 3 gloves, even as I start raiding distant dungeons.
Edit: Following Mimung's suggestion, I'm pointing out that I chose to play without upgrading my gear. What I meant by "putting it into perspective" Is that you do not need the gear to thrive as a mage. At level 10-12 there really were very few good gear options, so I banked my cash. by level 22, I got respect, opened up the best gear, and finally started to buy.
Brynn magic shop has the specific school gear.
Brother how are u lvl22 without at least amnity with Brynn?
Melee and Bow all have specific tier up gear available in dungeons and markets. Mages have absolutely nothing, you need to almost go out of your way just to find gear.
In your previous post you made that sound to be an issue of the game with saying "to put it into perspective..." chest, gloves, head etc. never upgraded until lvl22.
might wanna add to that, that it was your decision to spend the money elsewhere.
Mage gearing is totaly fine. You dont need specific mage gear before Brynn
and when you reach it the mage shop in Brynn has you covered.
Ima go get a screenshot lol...
"I think they really dropped the ball on Mage gear."

I mean this is why i made the discussion because I can't find this stuff
Im quite sure benevolence also had gear.
I highly doubt its rng man.
Can you provide a screenshot?
Maybe its a bug.
Also, benevolence has tier 3 gear on that shop.

absolutely reasonable stock at lvl5
if your shop doesnt have any make a screenshot and report it as bug.
this thread is the perfect example of why this game has "mixed" reviews.
