Gulon rarity
I feel like these guys are far more common than their description suggests, around Brynn i run into 1-3 on pretty much every map

Yep, has anyone skinned them btw? If so please send me some screen shoots. I was thinking about updating the Wiki.

Yes, the display value is some 500g and sells for some 400g. And for the wiki a parser will be made for items data, like there is for weapons, armor, skills, so no need to update manually.

It "feels" as if what you meet up in the wild has become level dependent. IIRC in the past, what you found in the wild was area dependent, and you could meet up with some nasty stuff at level 1.

Currently, at level 16, I have been encountering Gulons and Trolls with some regularity. (perhaps every 5 map transitions?)

Yeah I think rarity it has to do with character level. I encounter Gulons often now. Character at level 20.

It is map tile dependent but leveling enables new types to appear. Young Troll i think is at 8. And current content goes up until lvl 15 or so, after that you just get more stuff, and like at lvl 30 the Young Trolls are on almost every Forest tile and Gulons on almost all Steppe tiles.

Eh, I prefer the old system. Level dependent stuff feels unnatural. Trolls should be rare.

Dunno if it changed, but on my last playthrough Gulons were so common past a certain level point that the entirety of the grind came down to

1) Step out of Brynn.
2) Kill Gulons until your inventory is full of Pelts.
3) Take pelts back to Brynn.
4) Repeat.

It was absurdly efficient.

Yeah level scaling spawns are structured weirdly, soon enough forests end up having a troll or two (I've ran into up to 4 trolls in the same tile at +20); while that's a lot of free experience, it does go against the whole "they're supposed to be rare" description.

I agree with lots of the posts here. I think it's purely a level scalling issue. I personally prefer for the game to just make difficulty be based on distance from civilization. Wartales if I recall added that feature after being bugged into doing this by the community.
Although I don't see it being of any issue for Stoneshard since the level scaling here actually feels pretty fair, despite of me not liking it. Yeah, the gulons and troll and bandit sorcerers are too common but you are always at the level where you can deal with them way too easily

got to level 28 in that last run and I think my cap of young trolls in 1 forest zone was 6 trolls, along with 1 bear, 2 moose and and 3 boars lol

It is what it is for now and how progress is done, of course when more enemies will be added we won't see as many of ENEMY X at higher levels and it will be varied like at lower levels.

I would like to see randomly placed troll (monster) caves. Seeing a troll out in the open, in broad daylight (IIRC trolls in most mythology turn to stone in direct sunlight), is really strange and off-putting.
