Barn Key

Hey so i'm new to the game, just got a quest to find a barn key, found it and then got told to open the barn but either the quest is bugged or i'm not understanding something because the key does nothing, the barn is still locked.

Doesn't work, my options are "Enter" which gives a locked error and "Pick lock" which makes me a criminal x))

Very true, how foolish of me to expect that the literal locked barn he's leaning up against is the locked barn he's asking me to open.
