That said, enchants aren't really necessary to play the game, they provide nice bonuses but are hardly mandatory if you want to do the current content. They allow some wacky builds to exist but that's it. You don't need to savescum for enchants, you can just roll with whatever the scroll gives you and you can most of the time still be sucessful.
This is interesting.
I don't... disagree with you on this... but it's hard for me to believe it'll be reworked anytime soon.
Lets say the devs were going to replace this system within a year. Then yes, I'd be fine just farming for my enchantments for a while, but this has been a problem the community has noticed and talked about since the beginning... I don't see how it would take much work to switch to being able to pick the enchantment.
I also dont disagree with this, you're right, it isnt necessary. But it is a annoying system for it.
I'm not saying its super hard without enchantments, What I'm saying is there isnt a good REASON why its so difficult, in an annoying way, to get a specific enchant.
Lets say the devs want enchanting to have the same kind of story significance as magic, and its really unpredictable what will happen. Then there are better ways of that coming across. You could make each enchant scroll have its own single enchantment, Like potions. and you wouldnt be able to change it or try again for something different. the stats on it could also be wildly varying and have strange detrimental effects, besides curse. I could get that, I'd be cool with that. But right now, thats not the way its done, and I just want some consistancy on it.
If the devs REALLY don't want us getting the specific enchantments we want easily, I think there are better ways of doing it that don't feel frustrating. thats all im saying.
Ty for the reply
It was even crazier back then. Originally, you would get two enchantments (you would create a blue item) and both of them were RNG. People would spend hours reroling one item to get a good combination. The so-called "dodge builds" were based on enchant savescumming results. Today you only get one enchant per item, and people still spend hours savescumming for the correct enchantment they want. So it seems to me that the only annoying part comes from the player choosing to do this.

About enchanting in general. There's a lot of info on the game discord in the form of replies from the dev team. Some quotes:
- Enchantments are meant to provide minor enhancements, not to completely solve some of your stat problems
- No, you won’t be able to enchant items yourself in the future. There will be no scrolls of enchantment
- If anything, enchantment rework will make them more like a luxury, and you won't be able to easily enchant all your equipment with everything you want. Not because of the prices
- Some powerful enchantments will require rare ingredients and without Skinning/Alchemy you won't be able to access them at all
It's annoying rn when you don't get an okay enchant I agree, but like with other stuff that's annoying in the game, it's just a matter of time until it gets reworked.
Having to wait for the rework is a bit of a bummer, but there are other systems that the devs think are more necessary to be developed first.
Did you even read my post?
Like I told that other guy who also said the same thing... I know its not necessary.
