As for restarting this happens when something major changes so on large updates (we usually have one per year, next one is this summer at best or autumn at latest). And when we have smaller patches then your game will either not have the "small changes" if you already visited or did the "changed thing" or it will be updated, depends on the change.
I bought it because I love Diablo 2 and been playing that for 20 years. Stoneshard feels like a more open diablo that's turn based for me.
Development seems to take a while though.
One thing I would be careful with is when you come into the game under the assumption that it's a rogue-like. It's a little too slow paced for this. You have a relatively big town with several NPCs and lines of dialogue, and can explore an open world with lots of empty space in between points of interest. That's slightly contradicting the rogue-like difficulty and focus on replay value via an unforgiving save system (or hardcore mode) and a great variety of builds and talents.
really enjoyed the prologue too. cant wait to play this game
In my honest opinion the prologue is better in many ways. I still play it sometimes. I'd really love the option for an endless dungeon like the prologue just to see how many floors you could make it before dying as like a side option.
I'd just wishlist it and wait tbh.
I've watched youtube videos, people tend to like it. The criticism I've mainly seen was that it's grindy or hard or the game feels like a beta game and it has a lot to improve upon.
It's kinda bizarre cuz from what I've seen the game looks pretty damn good, the art style is great too but it's strange how it's not really that popular. Like you could ask random people about this game and almost nobody will know what it is.
The trailer they have on the steam page does capture me thou, I am on the verge of buying it. I think I should and see for myself.
