How to refresh merchant stock?

I've seen people say, save and load. But when I sleep for 1 hour to save, quit the game and then continue, nothing changes.

doenst work with blacksmith apprentice in second town. unless it has been changed in a very recent patch there is no other method than either save/load or sleep 3 days

I am in the first town though, I sleep for 1 hour to save, quit the game and when I load next time, stock is the same.

As mimung said just gotta sleep 3 times and he will restock his items.
Theres no need to quit and restart the game.

I didn't want to sleep for 3 days cause that's a huge waste of food.

If sleeping doesn't work try killing yourself and it should change

Then do some dungeons and eventually time will pass.

Well I've done a few dugeons, but I don't see it ever changing. Maybe it wasn't enough but from what I've seen from another person streaming, He did all quests in the first town, he explored some points of interest and throughout all of it (and some loads cause he died) the merchants never once restocked.

sleep for 3 days, cant reset from menu anymore seems to be patched :(

Sleeping for 3 days is cheaper than you might think foodwise, and bread is cheap.

If you want to spam reset to look for a certain item you need to have a savegame where the vendors just reset. So sleep until morning and check the vendors. if their inventory changed you can go to main menu and load -> new vendor loadout every time
