So now I started a new character and made a new save, the proper save files are now in the savegame location. I just successfully loaded the save in the github program and this time the save did not disappear and I can properly edit it. I initially thought that a scumbag dev made the save file auto-delete to troll people but I can edit it just fine and the abilities / stats are also there when I load the game... but all the quests are gone so now I can as well start from scratch I suppose. *sigh*
Any cases of mysterious savegame deletions known or must it have been that program?
Funny how a save scummer would call a dev. a scumbag for preserving the game the way it was meant to be played everyone has the time to start over if they screw up, it just takes time. The only way you wouldn't have time is if you died, went blind, lost limb movement or going to spontaneously combusted.... Reflect much?
Just search the forums and you will notice there recently has not been any problems with save games disappearing ....It was you scumming around that caused it ...
Anyhow, calling the devs scumbags is pretty filthy. The save file deleting itself is the Save On Exit feature. It makes decisions cost you, which makes you play more carefully. This is what makes Stoneshard different from Skyrim or Fallout 4 or something. Stoneshard is more gritty, more punishing, more difficult. There are games that cost you tens of hours of effort, all just by a random roll of numbers. Darkest Dungeon is one of them. And Stoneshard is hardly one of these games... So, if Darkest Dungeon doesn't have scumbag devs, then Stoneshard technically doesn't have any either.
So, please avoid calling people names when you don't really know what you're talking about.
Sorry about your saves but not much I can do. Your best hope now might actually be one of these scumbag devs telling you where your old saves might have been relocated to, who knows... I wouldn't call the guys who can save my bacon scumbags.
I'd advise against using 3rd party software to modify game files or tampering with them in general. But if you have to, consider making a backup next time.
Ah just to be clear by scumbag dev I meant the guy who wrote the savefile editor on github being a potential troll deleting the savegames, not the actual devs of the game.
Yeah I also expected the obligatory "this game is so hardcore bla bla play the game the way it's intended" reply to surface. It's a single player game, get over it. If anyone wants legit bragging rights these days they need to be a steamer anyway and I'm not looking to impress anyone, I just want to play the game and avoid the tedium of the early game hustle. Not that it matters but I was just looking for a respec to save time, not break the entire game (not that it would matter in a single player game to be frank).
Anyway thanks for the replies, have a good one.
Personally I haven't done anything with saves, but that is only because I am trying to be one of those 5 people from realase that won't get bored of game before half of it is finished, and I just play every few patches.
You can have my apology too brother my bad just the choice of words used lead me to believe you thought the Stoneshard devs implemented anti-cheat methods...
