What can i do in brynn?

I've reached the city of gold, but all the doors are locked.
Nobody will talk to me

Only a few stalls in the marketplace (and one tavern) are manned, most of the shops are empty of people
I've been given no quest or directions, and the old man only offers to take me to the other two towns

What do i do herE? Who do i talk to to continue the story, to get quests, etc

go south, enter in Brynn.. then go to visit the Old Towers which is in the upper right corner of the town. There you'll find the hostel where you can rent your bed (as you've done in the previous cities). Along the way you should see a bunch of guards and a captain selling stuff. if you talk to him you get some quest :)

Quest giver is the military supply manager in the north east (top right) town tile, not too far from the tavern. They also hotfixed one more open building, a pawn shop, even further north of the tavern.

But it does feel a bit empty at the moment and the lack of repair is rather irritating.

They are adding more, while not guaranteed, I personally expect to see a smith hot-fixed in this coming week.

Yes at the very least put the blacksmith, tailor and carpenter there. So we dont have to waste time traveling for simple repairs

I'm in the same situation. Kinda disappointed that this big game update City of Gold really feels very bare bones.

Merchant at the Marketplace, Elven Trader (northwest from marketplace) and Pawn Shop (north from inn on right side of city) sell pretty good items sometimes so I guess the only thing to do at the moment is to level up Brynn's reputation to the max with assignments.

After doing this ones quests, is there any new progress ?
