What have they done to hunting?
WOW, I played this game when it launched and the only good thing about it was hunting to make some money, now hunting is tottally screwed. Animals now flee the zone and u can no longer trap them in the zone corners, that sounds awesome at first cause u can change zone and keep tracking them but that's the BIG problem, when u change zone the animal is gone! Look how they massacred my boy! Thanks devs  Clap

Well, technicly if the animal exit out of the map square you are on, and you know wich one he went to, he will be in that next map square, but he will have recovered health, he will be randomly placed on the map square tough, so you will have to find him again, the point being that you can kinda track him.

I also dont like how you cant track them in a consistent manner, this means you have to kill them before they escape, wich inst hard if you have a dedicated hunter character however, and know how to stalk your prey.

I will say however that there is a animal behaviour overhaul update coming, not sure if it is the next one, but it might adress this hunting issue.

Overall i dont find hunting hard, just use the cover of trees to get closer, and use a bleeding acuracy shot to kill them quick, its still satisfying to hunt, even with this animal teleportation inconvinience.

After a bunch of tries, I'm pretty sure the animal just disappears...
thats not what happened to me, i continously followed a moose throughout the map, from square to square, and like i said, he recovered his health everytime, but i would still find him in the next square he went to, after searching a bit.

This is the correct answer.

Once an animal exits the map where the player is, it no longer exists.

Animals like wolves or bears who are close enough can follow the player onto the next map square because they are stored in a sort of "buffer" and load with the player.

Animals that exit the map disappear because only the area where the player is active is loaded.

That's a general idea of how it works.

They should make it so if you injure an animal it spills little blood droplets on the ground so you can track them better. That's probably not too hard to and would make things more fun.

The game is about random seeding (roguelike) not saving states and any time someone is seeing an animal on the next screen, it's a different animal, that's why it's HP are full.

It is extremely unlikely that he wrote a procedure that saves the animal to the next tile then heals and randomly moves the animal elsewhere on the map.
If you're going to bother to write all that code, you're going to save the HP and move the animal to the correct edge.

I play Ranged Weapons, and have no issues hunting.

- When I´m not using my bow or crossbow, I use trees and bushes to sneak up on animals.
- I also make sure to try and not scare the birds away, as this... might? affect positioning of animals or even their spawning.

In other words, I´m saying you should try watching where you walk, tile by tile. I find it challenging and fun.
