What furry said. So wonderful when I discovered this by mistake- goodbye shield of seldom blocking, hellooo extra damage.
If you're looking for the "skill books" aka treatise books from the tutorial, there's a set of 4 stalls about the center of town. The bottom right one seems to sell 2 treatise per day at random, so if you save early you can then just check with him and keep reloading until you get one you want... although they are pretty expensive.

Not really extra damage. Each attack can miss, main hand loses 20% dmg and offhand loses 40%.

The only use is if you buff each weapon with life drain so it proc twice, etc.

Also skill energy bonuses stack so two weapons with +15% energy cost is a bad idea.

Two dagger saves you energy though, handy for dagger skills.

Btw, bleed is useless if the enemy doesn't move.

200-60=140
140% dmg > 100% dmg. So yeah, extra damage. Also bleeds are per turn, even if they don't move.

1 strong weapon will always do more damage than 1 strong and 1 weaker weapon, this is due to how base damage is calculated, you lose a lot more damage than you think since you have to account for ENEMY ARMOR.

Dual wield is for specializing in unique playstyles or late game builds when you can compliment two skill trees of each weapon type (Axe and Dagger skills for instance).

I'm neither a dual wielder or dagger user, but daggers come with armor pen (the dagger you start with is 20%), the abilities in the tree always help you pen more, stack bleeds, or do body part damage. If skills hit twice while dual wielding, that can be a big deal for body part damage and bleeds for enemies that are susceptible to it. Also when you have a skill that gives you +100% dodge chance, I wouldn't be too worried about having to chip away at one heavily armored enemy.

I'm also operating on the assumption that the enemy in question was weakened with bows as it closed unless it's an undead skeleton or something.

dual wield is really good with builds that stack effects and passives. i use a dual wield sword build at the moment:

honed edge passive stacks bleed chance for every sword hit
gloat passive gives sword hits 5% crit chance and weapon damage for each bleed on target
fencers stance skill gives 10% block chance, 15% counter chance and -5% energy cost up to 4 stacks and renews stacks each hit

i split points between str and dex since sword skills benefit from both and buffed i'm sitting at around 60% block and 30% evasion. and i crit a lot.

i'm lvl 5 at the moment and once i get the endurance training passive that gives sword hits a chance to recover energy i plan to start putting points in geomancy. some very good buffs and debuffs there to make the build even better against tough bosses. though i've already killed plenty of bears with this build and from what i hear they might be the toughest mob in game so far
