Being one of only two people working on this game has required me to wear many hats over the years. Which is good because I love hats.

But one hat that I haven't worn in a long time was the sound effects hat. This is sad because sound effects have such a huge effect on how a game feels. Sound connects the player to the world in a way that only it can. It brings personality to the game world and communicates more to the player in many cases than the visuals alone allowing the player to feel more connected to the world.



The content in the game has grown considerably over time and was in dire need of many more sounds. We didn't have enough time to include the sound update in 1.23 so we decided to complete it now before we move on to other things. So I'm very happy to report that we have added a ton of new sounds to many aspects of the game for version 1.24


Sound design is not really my area of expertise however I have attempted to really immerse myself into the process and have worked to try and pick nice quality sounds that enrich the game experience. I also have had a close friend who is learning the sound engineering ropes lending me a hand. The initial results have felt very good and have made the game world feel much richer and more alive, and also much more humorous at times.

We have updated many aspects of the sound effects including...

Characters Idle Sounds
Each character in Adventure Craft has a slot for multiple Idle sounds. This is a collection of sounds that they can make when they are just hanging around, helping the player to become aware of their presence. We had a look at nearly every character and faction and have updated their sounds to give them more personality.

So now for example when you are near Punks you will hear them make little Negative "Heh"s or when you are near Special Forces you will hear their radio chatter calling out Bravo! Echo! etc. Cockroaches and spiders hiss and skitter and Lumberjack Mechs rev their chainsaw engines.

More dangerous enemies like werewolves have a warning sound slot, so you may hear a howling sound when one is near.

Character Attacks
We have updated many enemy attacks to have new sounds like slicing sharp blade noises and crunchy and booming impacts to bring extra impact and weight to their attacks.

Weapons
We have updated the swinging and impact sounds for many weapons so that hitting someone over the head with a pipe sounds different than hitting them over the head with a wooden sword.
And there is more to come.

It is still a work in progress so there is plenty of room for further improvement so please leave me any feedback about how the game sounds now so that we can continue to enhance the sound over future updates.

We have just updated the game with a fix that should resolve an issue where old save games couldn't be loaded.

In addition to this, we have been working on a bunch of new sound effects for characters. And checking for missing sounds and filling them all in. This sound update is still a work in progress and will most likely receive a few additional updates over the next couple of days. The sound update will mostly affect animal characters atm, then expanding into all monsters, NPC's, weapons, and attacks.

The game's music is also muted atm because of the sound work but the music will return in the next update.

Hi Everyone!

We are happy to announce that the Adventure Craft update 1.2 is now available. We have made some big changes and improvements to the overall game as well as added lots of new free content for you to enjoy. Let’s dive right in.


We have greatly reduced the difficulty of the spawn area where you begin the game. Allowing new players the chance to get into the game before the difficulty begins to ramp up outside the spawn and beyond.


The first big change is an update to the game’s dying mechanic. For a while, I have felt that death is too abrupt and disconcerting. Especially when things are chaotic or it’s nighttime. There are many enemies that are strong enough to kill you instantly which can feel pretty annoying especially if you have healing items in your inventory.

So now instead of dying instantly when your character’s health is reduced to zero, you will instead go into the “Dying” status effect. This status effect will cause a Grim Reaper to appear above your head along with a 7-second countdown timer.
Enemies will stop attacking you during the effect and you won’t be able to attack until you use a healing item to return some of your health and stop the reaper.

This gives you an opportunity to use a healing item from your Hotbar before the reaper ends your life and sends you back to the last bed that you slept in. So now you will have a chance to choose whether or not to continue fighting in a situation or go ahead and die to be sent back to the last bed that you slept in.

Note: Dying is different from the Doomed Status Effect which can only be cured by eating a Grim Biscuit


In order to create a more varied and lively game world, we have completely overhauled our event and enemy spawning mechanics for the majority of the Tile Maps in the game.

The new system creates a much greater variety of enemy interactions more frequently resulting in much more action and more interesting situations for the player to take advantage of ... or run away from!

It also paves the way for us to continuously update content in a way that’s easier for us to enrich the game world for the players and increase the likelihood of players seeing more content.

The Event Spawning Overhaul also extends to the night with the inclusion of Dark Vaults and Phantoms.

During the night you may now encounter Dark Vaults: large gilded crypts sealed by golden chains. Attacking these vaults yields special Dark Vault materials that can be used to make very rare Dark Vault Weapons and Items.

A Dark Vault is similar to a standard Treasure chest. It can be struck up to 5 times. It has a loot table per hit for the first 4 times that you strike it and a separate loot table for the 5th blow which contains all the Dark Vault Recipes. If you choose to strike a Dark Vault 5 times the final blow will open it unleashing a large horde of powerful enemies and potentially a Dark Phantom.

Some Dark Vaults are protected by NPC’s and may even occasionally be opened accidentally by mobs fighting near them.

Dark Phantoms are a new class of Darkness Enemies that are very powerful and have the ability to significantly alter the tilemap in which they have appeared, transforming enemies and world objects into unique mobs and other objects that yield very rare Dark Vault loot and recipes. There are 12 Dark Phantoms in production at the moment and one is included in this update. The remaining Dark Phantoms will be added in future updates.

The first Dark Phantom included in this update is...


“King Hemlock was an evil King. He poisoned nearly everything. Until his subjects poisoned him which made his lifeforce very dim”

There are 15 Total Dark Vaults in this update, three of which King Hemlock is guaranteed to emerge from. King Hemlock may also emerge from any of the other Dark Vaults if they are opened before midnight.

King Hemlock’s melee attack can permanently transform trees into “Hemlock’s Kitchen” an enemy spawner from which the Servants of Hemlock will spawn at night. Servants of Hemlock will wander around deploying “Strange Pots” and pools of poison. Mobs that they kill with their Pot Spoon weapon may be transformed into Strange Pots as well.
Defeating Servants of Hemlock will yield the items needed to craft your own Pot Spoon that you can then use to smash the pots that they generate for rare Dark Vault items. They also may drop Hemlock Gems on death which can be used to craft Dark Vault Weapons like King Hemlock’s Sword, a weapon that King Hemlock himself is vulnerable to.

King Hemlock’s sword makes him much easier to defeat and he also drops Hemlock Gems on Death. Defeating Hemlock also has a chance to drop his mask which allows you to build an Alter of Hemlock which will spawn one instance of him at night.
There are 9 Dark Vault Weapons available in this update. These are very powerful weapons that allow access to special loot only available through their use and may eventually allow access to areas that are inaccessible without them.

As the other Phantoms are introduced into the game, it will affect the rarity of these already rare items due to the fact that they will also come from the Dark Vaults so engaging with the Vaults early may have a significant effect on how easy it is for you to acquire these items after future updates. Being able to craft these items in the future may require trading items between players which we are working on and will tell you more about soon.

More Friendly NPC’s

We have added more friendly NPC’s and greatly increased the overall frequency and probability that you will encounter helpful NPC’s. It’s also now easier to tell if an NPC is friendly because you will see hearts popping out of their heads.

Graphical updates
We have updated many of the game’s graphical assets as well as added new areas to be explored. The Mushmen Faction for example now features Red, Green and Purple camps for the ever-evolving Mushmen War.

New Enemies and Animals
There are several new enemy types including Undead Brutes which can occur when a Brute class humanoid is infected by a zombie.

There is also a rare Deer. The chance to see a deer is very rare but you can tell if one is near if you see deer tracks on the ground.



We have updated most weapons with a new kind of attack called a Secondary Attack. For most weapons, there is a 40% chance that a Secondary Attack will occur.

You can tell a secondary attack occurred by the dramatic sting sound effect that plays when the attack connects and by the significantly increased knockback effect that sends the enemy flying much further away from you than the standard attack.

From a visual standpoint, secondary attacks also have a unique attack effect graphic that says BAM!

Secondary Attacks are unique for each weapon and all have independent statistical probabilities for things like Damage, Critical Chance, Transformation Chance, Status Effects, and so on allowing us to really enhance a weapon’s personality and fun.


We have also added a new class of Magical Weapon to the game in the form of Magic Spellbooks. The first two which are in this update are the Ignite and Fireball Spellbooks. Spellbooks unleash very powerful attacks and thus are a challenge to craft.

To Create a Spellbook

Create Bark Sheets by cutting a Rotten Log

Place Bark Sheets into a Forge to produce Handmade Paper

Crush 5 Begrimed Skulls into a piece of Handmade Paper to create a sheet of Begrimed Paper

Crush 25 Sheets of Begrimed Paper with 2 Iron Bars and 10 Nails to create Bound Begrimed Paper

Next combine 1 Bound Begrimed Paper, 25 Dark Skin, 10 Twine, 5 Nails, and 10 Red Slime to create a Blank Spellbook.

Once you have a Blank Spellbook you can craft it into a Magical Spellbook weapon that can cast powerful magic spells.

There are two Magical Spellbooks available in this release. Fireball and Ignite

Fireball I

Combine a Blank Spellbook and 25 Fire Crystals to create a “Fireball I” Magical Spellbook

The Fireball I Spellbook launches fireball projectiles that damage enemies with a high chance to cause burning. Some enemies hit with a fireball may be instantly transformed into a pile of ash.

You can also upgrade the Fireball I Magical Spellbook by combining it with additional 25 fire crystals to create Fireball II.

Combining the Fireball II Spellbook with an additional 50 Fire Crystals upgrades it to Fireball III

Ignite I
Combine a Blank Spellbook, 25 Fire Crystals, and 25 Gunpowder to create an “Ignite I” Magical Spellbook.

Ignite is an area of effect spell that damages all enemies within its radius with a very high chance to cause burning. Enemies hit with Ignite also have a high chance to be transformed into a pile of ash.

Magic Spellbooks can be repaired with Mana Bottles which can be found in chests or purchased in some shops.

Hi Everyone,

We are back to work on Adventure Craft for 2021!

This is just a small update to fix a bug that was adding 10 Boost Damage to the main player character. The main character was meant to be doing 100 hit points of unarmed damage but due to the bug it was doing 1000 extra damage per hit on top of whatever weapon was being wielded.

So during the holidays everyone had super human strength!

This bug would have affected the game balance in a significant way so we apologize for any inconvenience that this caused.

We are looking forward to continuing our work on Adventure Craft this year. We have many new features on the way and some nice surprises!

A couple of the bug fixes have to do with an ongoing issue with Battle Axes and their Extenders. The recipes have been adjusted to fix this however, the bug seems to persist for some users. If you still encounter this bug after this patch please let us know in the comments.

Hello Everyone,

We are happy to report that the Adventure Craft 1.1 update is now available in the main branch of the game. The 1.1 update brings a ton of new features, content updates and bug fixes. Now onto the details!
Extended Day and Night Cycle
The day/night cycle has been slowed down again making for much longer days and nights, which allows for more time to explore or gather resources in the day but can make being out at night more dangerous.
Respawning in your bed
After you die you will now respawn back in the last bed that you slept in, or if you die in a “portal world” like a cave system where you don't have a bed, you will respawn outside the portal.

Death Penalty Removed
You no longer will lose everything if you die twice in a row, you can now always venture back to where you died to retrieve your dropped inventory.

Epic Criticals for weapons
The majority of weapons now have a chance to land an “Epic Critical” which is a double damage critical hit. Epic critical chance is typically half the chance of whatever the weapons current critical chance is set to.

The Spreadsheet that contains all the game’s recipes and other data is now available for public viewing. You can find it here. (Note: This spreadsheet is a work in progress, missing info will be updated, please inform us of any inconsistencies in the data)

Town Updates

Town GraveyardActivity in the town graveyards has been increased. Haunted chests protected by poltergeists can now be farmed for special items, and a town grave keeper now roams the area hunting the undead. You may also encounter a powerful Brute Vampire or Brute Ghost hunter in this area.
Vampire Mansion
You can now enter the tomb at the back of the vampire mansion (if you have collected the keys) to fight the bosses inside. This is a tough battle that will require a Spectral Sword and/or Stake Guns to win. Having a party with you that is equipped with these types of weapons will make this battle much easier.
Town Farm
Activity in Town Farms has been increased. Farmhands will now gather wheat and leave piles that you can farm if you have a pitchfork. They will try and protect their harvest so beware of their dogs if you get too close. The activity inside pens has also been updated.
Town Center Weapon Shop
The town center weapon shop has had more weapons added to its inventory.

Misc Gameplay Updates

Dog Power
An attack dog that has reached its final stage of evolution can now use its power which is an attack that will cause Fear to any nearby mob that isn't immune to Fear. Press N to activate the power. It has a 300 second cooldown. (There is no visual currently to show the attack but this will be added in a future update)

Clone Party Updates

Clone Speed: Clones will now match your speed if you use a speed increasing items so that they don't get left behind.

Toggle Clone AI on off: You can now use the numbers 7 and 8 to toggle a clone’s AI on or off quickly. This is useful in battle when you need the clones to stop what they are doing and follow you.

Goblin Tech Tree
We have adjusted the way that goblins camps evolve over time. Now you will see a pile of Goblin Supplies that will eventually activate. Once activated goblins will begin to spawn from it and try to deploy tents to expand their territory.

New Tile Maps

Voodudes
The Voodudes have now been given their own new biome along with a new weapon to craft. Their biome is also home to a new mob, The Brutal Voodude. Farm him to craft a Voodude Club, a heavy poisonous club that inflicts many status effects.
Stone Clan
There is a new faction of enemies in the world known as the Stone Clan. The Stone Clan is an order of Stone Clad Knights that wield powerful stone swords that can be upgraded up to 4 times. They hang out in a new rocky biome, following members of the clan with higher standing, mining stone etc.
Cave Men and Women
This new rocky area is home to Cave Men and Women who are locked in a constant battle for supremacy. Explore the area and you may find the secret to crafting one of the Cave Women’s huge club weapons.
Remixed existing Tile Maps for more variety
A collection of the existing Tile maps have been remixed to bring more variety to their gameplay experience.
New Armor
Bear Suit: Farm bears to create the Bear Suit Armor, each piece of this armor increases overall attack by 1 and adds half a heart to your life meter.
