This one key...

Since this great game is an extremely spoiler sensitive experience, I'm going to post this question without having looked through all the posts here for answers, I hope that's okay.

I think I currently have found at least 15 places that are locked and require a key, a code, or a tool. The only key I have is the one found in Scott's chest, and it doesn't seem to fit any of these places. I'm not even sure I'm supposed to use it yet. I feel utterly stuck.

I need the code for the sheriff's file cabinett. I need a keycard (I think) for the doctor's office in the hospital, also the key to Trisha's room there. Also the key to her bed cabinet. The little box in her wardrobe? Also the code to the mansion shed. I have the key to the wall clock, but no clue as to the positions of the hands. I have a clue to the code for the mansion study desk, but I think I need more than one? (The darts I know of add up to 60+50-7-2=0101 which doesn't work.) There is a basement door in the church which says "Exit" when I point at it. It's locked but seems to not have keyhole. I'm pretty sure I need to get into Oliver's photolab, to get some tools, and that Dorothy has the key somewhere. But I don't have the key to her house and can't find it in her room. HELP! ;-)

Hi, its pretty impressive how thorough you are with your notes, great job!

Judging by your notes, it seems that youmanged to enter security room and the hunting cabin. But it also seems that you haven't found the hidden safe.If what was said is true, then I'd refer you toa diary inside Scott's room inside the church. This will clue you for something that you might have missed.

As for the key that you found inScott's chest, you may need to retrace your steps. If you were to look at the description for the item, it says"Found in a chest in the church. It belongs to Scott." There are only a few places in the game that Scott stayed in or is associated with. I would recommend revisiting those locations and testing out the key

These hints are a little cryptic but if you want a more direct answer, let us know. :)

I'm back! ;-) So, I found the door for Scott's key. I was sure I had tried that one. But it only gave me a diary confirming some things I suspected, and a new locked door. I'm now going around randomly looking at things. I found the doctor's keycard (don't know how I missed it the first time), but that also didn't open up any new places. (I couldn't find a place to switch on the electricity. I suspect it's in the basement, so I need that key.)

If you meant the secret safe in Scott's room in the church, then I have found that, but no clue to what the code is. (I've tried all the pertinent dates I could think of.)

One thing that bothers me is that I have the P.I.'s clue about the secret compartment in the inn reception desk, but still can't find the latch. So I'm afraid I'm stuck again...

The hint for the code is mentioned in Scott's 1985 Journal which can found in his desk in his room. You can also examine the toy airplane which is on top of the desk. If you just want the code, its5385

about the hidden compartment: it is really hard to find and I still don't know where exactly you have to click to open it but it is behind the reception desk; There should be a sideboard thingy next to the wine cabinet, made from the same wood the reception is. There is only one pannel that is completly unobstruckted and has no drawers. Just click all over that one, eventually it should open. Oh an there isn't really anything important inside.

About the hidden compartment. If you are in the reception area you see a bottle of champagne on the side table/cabinet. look towards it and crouch down. You should be able to find an access point in one of the corners of the panels you are facing
