Help getting into the church

I've been enjoying myself so far, but I've reached a dead end with most of my leads. The one that has me most confused is finding the key to the church. I've found clues that tell me that the key is under one of the flower pots by the church. However, when I investigate them, I find nothing. There are no prompts to interact with them, and I don't see any key. Where would the best place be to start looking after finding said clues?

That was fast :) And you're right, there it was. I don't know how I missed it, I crawled slowley over each pot hoping to find something.

The exact same thing happened to me. Except I went over and over each flowerpot on two or three seperate occasions thinking surely it must be there? I gave up and assumed at that point that the game was even more sophisticated than I first thought!

However, after visiting the mansion or Bernard's place I left and walked down the road to the church. More out of desperation and being out of leads than anything else, I scanned over the flower pots again and there it was, clear as day, on the top of one of them.

There is no way I missed this two or three times previously, so my only conclusion is that there are two places that specifically mention the flower pot key - 1) the yellow sticky post-it note in the hospital reception and 2) the yellow sticky post-it note in the mansion. I think it was on the fridge iirc. I now believe that you have to read both notes in order to make the key appear as previously I'd only read the hospital note. I may be wrong about this though but it seems to have been triggered by either the mansion note or both notes having been read.[/spolier]

I found the key with just one of the two clues discovered. I found the clue in the hospital long after opening the church door. Seems they just placed two clues because different people will search the locations in different orders...

For those who still have trouble finding it:

I found it to the left of the second church door (the first church door has the mailbox and street address), on top of the green pot just around the corner from the second door. It's a bronze key with a cross instead of a circle on the far end.

I don't see key in any of the pots. I even checked a youtube tutorial - the key is missing where it's supposed to be. I've tried everything: found and read both notes with key's location, visited every location that I can access on the map. No key, I'm stuck.

Reloading didn't help. Starting a new game didn't help either. I like the game but this bug made it impossible to advance in the game.

To clarify, the key starts at the same location, and does not need to be spawned in. This key may be difficult to see without turning on your flashlight. There are four groups of pots to the side of the church each with three pots. The front door has one group. The side door to the left of the front door has three groups, one to the front of the side door, and two more to the left. The keys sits on top of the dirt of the green pot, on the group to the left of the side door. So two days later I decided to give it another try, I launched the game and went to church and there it was, a pot with the key. I swear I searched all over the church yard previously. The pots weren't there! I have no idea how I could've missed the pot.
Then I come back to this discussion and see your reply.
I would've thought that there indeed was some issue and you fixed the issue but there were no updates so it must be my fault.
